Carolel I agree with you.

I only know Katy's name because I am interested in Dusty's name, I could not tell you the names of ANY of the others.

Not having seen any tour posters I can't comment but the most sensible thing to do would be to quote that Katy was the winner of The One & Only performing as DUSTY! I wonder if that was outwith Katy's control?

Isn't there any coverage in local press either?

As I said earlier I've been to show's where big names have played to small audiences, infact when I saw Madeline last year there was so few people in the Usher Hall that they appeared onstage the other way around and played to the organ gallery which is where they moved the audience to. Mind you we all made so much noise it sounded like a full house!!!!!

Other acts I've seen who were not sold out were Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons, Ray Conniff Singers, Petula Clark, Lou Rawls and they all gave more than 100%

I'm thinking that the Ads and Posters for this Show, should have read differently.

Lets face it, we are avid fans of Dusty, which resulted in us being fans of Katy.

However, to alot of people, the name, Katy Setterfield will mean nothing, even if they voted for her on the 'One and Only'...Can youremember any of the other Tribute peoples 'real names'...I know, I can't.

Maybe more should have been made of the fact that Katy was the winner of the One and Only as Dusty Springfield.

So, different wording on the Posters may have helped.

Also people have short memories, and if Katy had toured right after the show was aired, she may have had a bigger attraction..But we know that she had other fish to fry at The Imperial Palace.and I'm sure she made the most of that experience.

I'm not criticising anyone here, I'm just trying to think of a reason that there aren't HOUSE FULL signs everywhere.
I'm disappointed for Katy, cos, judging off the extensive reports we have seen, she certainly deserves them.

Unfortunately you can take the girl out of That'll be The Day but it seems you can't take That'll be The Day out of the girl so far too long is spent on segues from that show – including a totally unnecessary and over the top Tina Turner medley, especially when she's capable of a much better Cher tribute.

...Bloomin' cheek! That seems quite harsh to say the least. I think (and I'm sure some of you may agree) that to have such diversity within the show meant that Katy was not seemingly restricted to just Dusty, and that to put in a variation of interpretations of different artists, helped to further illuminate Katy's vast vocal capacity!

However I'm aware that the rest of the review is ok- with Katy receiving positive comments, and that I know it is just the writer's own opinion.

Katy Setterfield – Dusty Springfield In Concert - The Opera House, Blackpool - 18/09/08

Katy Setterfield

Date: 19 September 2008

What a difference a year (or so) makes. Last time she visited Blackpool Katy Setterfield wasn't quite In The Middle of Nowhere but she was certainly Wishin' and Hopin' a solo career would one day lift her from the cast of retro rock show That'll Be The Day into her own spotlight.

With victory on BBC1's The One And Only battle of the tribute acts Katy is now clearly out to Stay Awhile as the country's leading Dusty Springfield revivalist – and it's not difficult to see why.

There are times during her well-balanced headlining set that she is uncannily like the most influential female vocalist this country has ever produced. Granted there are others when there's a feeling she's just someone wearing a lacquered wig and singing Dusty's songs – but when it comes to the big ballads just Close Your Eyes and Count To 10 and it could be the real deal back on stage and delivering the goods.

Having worked her way through the ranks Ms Setterfield is well aware of being careful what you wish for and, presumably not wanting to be only Dusty, is careful to open and close the show with her tribute but elsewhere remind us she has her own – rather powerful – voice in there too.

Unfortunately you can take the girl out of That'll be The Day but it seems you can't take That'll be The Day out of the girl so far too long is spent on segues from that show – including a totally unnecessary and over the top Tina Turner medley, especially when she's capable of a much better Cher tribute.

With husband Andy Hodge on bass the couple have hand picked a first class band and two backing singers who – once their microphones were turned up – revealed voices perfectly capable of holding centre stage during the frequent costume and mood changes.

Peter Allen's wonderful Quiet Please There's a Lady On Stage summed up an excellent tribute to an irreplaceable legend.

Katy should not be too concerned at playing to less than capacity audiences, I've seen several International stars who had half empty houses but boy did they put on a show.

Even our own dear Dusty had to cancel her tour which was the ultimate insult in my opinion! How fickle the public can be.

Also enjoyed the couple of songs that she opened the second act with as "Katy" Really great show, disappointing that the theatre was only half full, but a very appreciative audience. It is the nearest thing that we are ever going to get to the original and far superior to all the previous tribute shows that I have seen

I stand corrected then Wally, I really did think that it was packed out to the rafters last night- but obviously the lack of wearing my specs proved otherwise. Where abouts were you seated? If I'd known you were gonna be there, I would have come over and said, 'hello' Did you meet Katy afterwards too?

I completely agree. I wonder if Katy is a bit disappointed with the lack of publicity. She's obviously put a lot of hard work into her tour and it doesn't seem fair that she's not pulling in the audiences she should. The theatre at South Shields was only about 60% full. I just hope Katy knows that her audiences really appreiciate her hard work and really enjoy her show and i'm sure she would have full houses all round if only there'd been more publicity.

I totally agree with your comments, Janie.

Its disgraceful that Katy's Story seemed to stop at the EXIT doors of The 'One and Only' as far as the BBC is concerned.

This Show would've and should've been a sell out..The Power of TV is amazing.. *Just look at the way the useless/untalented folk who take part in Big Brother are feted when they leave the house*...

I'm hoping that Katy will be promoted on our local BBC Radio Station at the very least, before she comes to Manchester(Stockport)...

**I know that Big Bro' is on Channel 4..but its the same principle.

Have any of her concerts been more than half full? Vegas was packed the night I saw her.

I can't help but think that this entire tour has been underpromoted. I really don't understand why the BBC hasn't given much more support to Katy than what seems to be the case (in my view anyways). I know there is not going to be another One and Only and so the BBC used that as the reason why Katy's Las Vegas stuff wouldn't air. However, she was a winner on one of their prime time Saturday night TV shows! The BBC promotes enough rubbish and twaddle at our expense (TV licence holders that is!!!! ) and yet they can't promote a bit of real talent to any significant degree. I am just APPALLED that they haven't afforded Katy any air time on the national network yet.

OH NO Wally, I feel very sad and disapointed to read that Katy is only drawing a half full theatre. Katy deserves much better than that. I would love to see her sing Quiet Please There Is a Lady on Stage and a much longer act that what I saw her do in Vegas.

I completely agree with your last sentence..."It is the nearest thing that we are ever going to get to the original and far superior to all the previous tribute shows that I have seen."

Wow what a show! Not just Dusty, but Tina Turner, Cher and Annie Lennox too!. Surely that has just got to be the icing on the cake!. I emailed Katy t'other day to let her know that I'm going to see her- not heard back yet, but understandably she is VERY busy, but I look forward to her reply.

...EVEN more excited than before now!
