SO very glad you enjoyed her show Karl (our posts crossed, so many apologies ). Lovely write-up. Do we get to see the photos per chance? .

Janie since I changed my printer I have never worked out how to send pictures (I could before), I could send them to you to add to the site if you want. I sneaked a few pics of Katy onstage as Dusty and Tina. One of the Dusty shots is great as it's a full length shot with the hand movements going!
The picture of Katy & I was taken by a mutual friend and he hit the wrong button and zoomed in, so it's a very close shot and part of Katy's face has been omitted but it's still a great pic - I really wanted my Dusty T shirt to get in on the act as I am very proud of that shirt as it was such a surprise gift.
I'd be more than happy to do that Karl .

Posted - 13/10/2008 : 15:08:39 I am glad you got to see Katy, Karl and I knew you would enjoy her. She is great. No she is not Dusty, no one ever will be Dusty again, but she is the closest we will ever see to Dusty here on earth.
As for her hand movements, I thought she much improved from the One and Only. I was very impressed.

Posted - 13/10/2008 : 11:46:15 I forgot to say Fraser O'Briens mother was in the audience last night - she was in a box directly above our seat so we gave her a wave and she waved back. |

Katy told a nice story about Clive Westlake's son, if I remember correctly she said lived near her mum and he turned up at the door thanking Katy for singing All I See Is You and bringing that song to the fore again - he was in tears she said.
Katy is on in Dunfermline (Fife) tomorrow night, I am sorely tempted to get in the car and go, some of my relations live there and I could have stayed over but I think they are all away at the moment.
Go for it Karl, why not? . Yes I remember Katy told us that story too- I think he actually lived next door, and that on the night when she performed 'All I See Is You' on TOAO, he came round to say thanks . Awww it must have been a great moment for him....
I love that song...never fails to bring a tear to my eye

Posted - 13/10/2008 : 10:04:01 Great review Karl, I'm really pleased you had a great time! I agree with you on the fact that it was nice Katy diverted from the most popular songs, to ones that don't get heard as much i.e. Wherever Would I Be, Can I Get A Witness? etc. Fabulous to know that she got a standing ovation at the end as well, she really does deserve it!
Nice that you got to meet Katy afterwards too- looking forward to seeing your pic! and that she recognised you from wearing your Dusty t-shirt .
I'm still waiting for my CDs .

Posted - 13/10/2008 : 09:52:31 I was at Katy's show in Glasgow last night and I really have to say she was excellent!!!
Katy worked very hard during the show but also enjoyed herself, the sound was spot on and you could hear every word.
I was wearing my T shirt with Dusty's autograph embroidered on it (a gift from Marty), Katy saw this from the stage (we were in front row) and twice looked at me as she was leaving the stage and said Thank You.
It was interesting to note that Katy did not stick purely to Dusty's big hits but she did Can I Get A Witness, Quiet Please There's A Lady Onstage, Wherever Would I Be as well as the hits with the Pet Shop Boys.
Katy's band and backing singers were also excellent and took centre stage when Katy did her costume changes, their performances of Cilla & Sandie's hits were really good even down to the bare feet!
Katy came back on as Tina Turner at one point and imitated Tina's dance movements, they also did the Tina & Ikettes routine on Proud Mary.
Several times I looked around the theatre to see the audience reaction, many stood up after some songs and some were even dancing, but the entire audience stood up and gave Katy the ovation she deserved at the end, I was very pleased they did that.
Minutes after the curtain came down Katy was in the foyer meeting the fans, she remembered my T shirt and I told her Marty sent it to me, I then asked her to sign programmes for myself & Marty which she gladly did and posed for a picture with me. I also bought her cd's.
I would definitely go to see Katy again, infact I have to say when she sang Some Of Your Lovin' she really nailed it. The hand movements are still not quite right, I feel they don't come as naturally to Katy as they did to Dusty - however Dusty was Dusty and Katy is Katy and it did not detract from my enjoyment of her show. |

Posted - 12/10/2008 : 23:58:06 Thanks Trek. I agree that she has come a long way with her hand movements and even vocal performances since "The One and Only". I felt the same way when I saw her in Vegas.
Sorry to hear about the bad sound system.

Posted - 12/10/2008 : 23:06:45 Glad you 2 enjoyed the show even though the sound system was duff.
Dusty will be saying...Times never change!
It seems that Katy rose above all the problems and gave a good show.
I just feel with a little more publicity the venues would be full. Still those that did go obviously had a good time and thats what counts.

Posted - 12/10/2008 : 21:57:20 Yes, its a One Woman Show Marty... There are parts where her band plays a couple of tunes.. and others where her two female backing singers sing a couple of tunes, but this is mainly to take up time in order to give Katy chance to change her gowns/dress.
I thought her dresses were excellent, by the way... and I also thought that it was obvious Katy has studied Dustys 'movements' as well. They were much improved since The One and Only Show...
I would say the show was about two hours long..with a short break.

Posted - 12/10/2008 : 18:37:25 I loved it, it was fab! She did lots of different stuff I'd have loved to have stayed at the end to meet Katy but couldn't else I'd have never got home The trains were all dodgy and cancelled and had bus replacement sevices! I hope she'll come to Leeds one day! I just slept for 15 hours
