I can remember most of the lyrics too...you can't say that with some songs today, cause they either don't make much sense or you can't hear them anyway!!

"Oh yes I remember them all so well."

Me, too, Trekkie. I have about 98% of those songs as singles or on LPs packed away in my attic. I was 11 years old at the time of the 'Invasion' so The Beatles started it all for me, popular music-wise. That's when the Saturday afternoon bus trips to the record stores started.

I find it amazing that I can still recall the lyrics to most of those songs 40+ years later. That's probably what's maxing out my memory capacity.

To Sir With Love was a huge hit film with of course Sidney Poitier...hence the high placing of the song by Lulu.

Dusty having 3 tracks is good ..Pet Clarke also featuring.

The Beatles and to a lesser extend the Stones certainly dominate. Some other good tracks too.
Interesting that Don't Let The Sun Catch You Crying by Gerry and the Pacemakers is high on the list...my fav song by them.

Oh yes I remember them all so well

Okay T.. Yes I knew they charted with 'Silver threads and golden needles' That was why I thought they should be there.

Interesting... The Springfields 'One Hit Wonders'..

The Springfields didn't make as big of a splash here - not like they did in the U.K. The so-called "British Invasion" began in February of 1964 - with the arrival of The Beatles. The Springfields charted with "Silver Threads & Golden Needles" before that time, if I recall correctly. They would be thought of as 'one-hit wonders', if they are remembered here at all.

OOPS!! I missed that one, Brian. My favorite song, too!
Still pretty low on the totem pole.

The Beatles are all over the place. Gives you a good idea what we were hearing out of the NYC stations back in the 60s.

So 'I only want to be with you' at 77 doesn't count?
