Posted - 05/05/2008 : 23:07:25 ..So...any strong feelings about Mr. Manilow and his music?..
I went thru a phase of thinking he was the 'bees knees'.
There...I've said it!.. .. Better out, than in.

Posted - 09/05/2008 : 23:32:29 Did you know that the song 'I write the Songs' wasn't written by Baz?
Ironic or what?...

Posted - 09/05/2008 : 23:06:57 I like Barry Manilow especially Somewhere in the Night and Even Now and Mandy.
He is a good song writer.
Sandra does sound very different from a male view point.
I posted all this before but it appears to have got lost in cyberspace

Posted - 06/05/2008 : 22:38:36 I thought maybe 'we' might like to hear Baz's version of Sandra...
You get the words and everything!...
Sounds slightly different from a male perspective, don't it?..

Posted - 06/05/2008 : 22:34:50 Ooh yes, I like Baz! I've often let him serenade me to sleep. A few albums I particularly like are..The Greatest Songs of the 50's, " " " " " 60's " " " " " 70's!!!!! He has done a terrific job of covering old favourites especially Cherish/Windy with The Association from the '60's album. Hmm, now what songs could he cover from the '80's?

Posted - 06/05/2008 : 22:22:05 I'm glad that Sara brought up Barry's songwriting talents.
Even if you don't admire him as a great Showman(Which he certainly is) you have to give him credit for the wonderful songs he's written.
... Who could forget the heartbreaking housewife 'Sandra' The song that Dusty covered so convincingly..
Many more fab songs, too numerous for me to mention.
Would anyone else like to 'mention' a few?..

Posted - 06/05/2008 : 21:58:30 I saw him in concert guess it was back in the 70s. It was an excellent concert. I especially loved the bit with the different commercials.

Posted - 06/05/2008 : 12:19:34 I've liked Barry's music ever since he was IT in the early 70s. Saw him in concert in the early 80s and he was great - but I must admit, that was the nerdiest looking crowd I've ever seen at pop concert. (Maybe I shouldn't talk - I was there, too!)

Posted - 06/05/2008 : 07:56:56 I always liked Barry and I saw him in concert and he was fantastic.
There's a new musical coming soon, a Bill Kenwright production (they are always good) based on Barry's music.
I think my favourite Manilow performance is Somewhere In The Night, his Showstoppers cd is also one to listen to! |

Posted - 05/05/2008 : 23:20:25 At one time I was a huge fan of Barry Manilow, I seem to have gone off of him a bit in the last few years.
He still is a very hot ticket in Las Vegas.
