Who (other than Douggie) on this Forum has ever seen Dusty perform "live" or met her and when where etc?? Especially interested to hear of any accounts from 60's (I'm guessing RAH 79 is most likely occasion).

Apologies if this is treading old ground.

I saw Dusty 6 times in all - keep meaning to dig out the programmes and scan them in for you to see. I will get round to it!

I feel very privileged.

The first time was at the Coventry Theatre and I remember being so nervous and on edge that it was hard to enjoy the experience but, of course, I did. To see your idol - it just doesn't get any better.

Never met her though - I would have frozen!

She was 42 when I was born Just before 'White Heat'

Oh no, wait! I lied, she was 41, 42 in 8 days. I need sleep!

I just love reading these stories too. Born too late... Jan '63. So Dusty was 23 soon to be 24 when I hatched. Do love the stories...

Guess Who?

I love reading all these stories I'm so jealous though! Sometimes I really wish I'd been born in the 50s!

I saw Dusty perform at the London Palladium in January 1973!?!Wonderful to see her sing live.
Went round to the stage door afterwards to try and see her with about 20 other fans.Somebody I spoke to said she might come out to meet the fans.Waited for about an hour but no luck.Had to leave to catch the last train home.!!! So near and yet so far.!

Yep I'll have a lift back in time and I would go to many more concerts and pluck up the courage to go back stage next time around!

Still at least I did get to see her live once.

So Frans what memories do you have when you went to Drury Lane?

i saw dusty in the eighties at a dsb convention (does this count?) despite the crowd of people when she came in i was really close to her & she looked at me and smiled (swoon). after she'd performed some songs (with simon) fans were being allowed through to another room to meet her a few at a time - the friend i was with let some boys go in front of us..it was our turn next... but Dust felt unwell and left. sigh. so near yet so far. i know i would have fallen all over myself anyway & wouldn't have known what to say but i'll never forget the thrill of seeing her 'live'. I'm just waiting for someone to invent time travel then i'm off back to the sixties. anyone fancy a lift?

I first saw Dusty onstage around 1968 at the ABC Blackpool when she did a Sunday concert and met her backstage in her dressing room along with half the audience, I only spoke to her for a few minutes but she was very nice and looked even more gorgeous close up.

Next time I saw her was at the recording of her last ever tv show at Golders Green but because she was giving the crew a farewell party she did not have time to meet her fans that night.

I never saw Dusty again until 1979 at the Drury Lane first night, again most of the audience wanted to meet her and Pat managed to get us backstage where again I only had time to say a few words to her but she signed a very nice and personal message on the sleeve of It Begins Again. I was also in the audience for the last night at Drury Lane but did not go backstage.

I have always wondered why so many of you don't want to tell your stories of meeting and seeing Dusty. I have posted this on other forums in the past and it always bot a minimum response.

I saw Dusty perform twice: at Drury Lane in the UK and at a Dutch TV studio where I met her afterwards.

There was also a fanclub get-together where Dusty appeared, quite out of the blue. Each of us was allowed a few seconds with her, and she kindly autographed a 45-jacket for me.

I saw her at the Gaumont in Birmingham in 1964 I never met her...I was only 15 and was far too shy to try and meet her...big regret.

I tried to get tickets in the 60's when she came to Stafford where I lived but they had all sold out.

I read an article recently about the gig in a magazine about All Our Yesterdays and it says she and The Echoes went into The Swan...the local Hotel afterwards for a drink...much to the delight of the customers...wonder if Douggie remembers that!!!

I'm sure that many of you are sick of my story, but I guess I'm a bit proud of it, LOL!

I met Dusty when I was 13 years old in an autograph signing in Stern's Department Store, located in Hew York City on 42 Street. We got to chat for about five minutes. The building is no longer there and now an office building called the Grace Building.

A few weeks later I saw her do two concerts at the Brooklyn Fox.

The next time she appeared in New York was at the nightclub called Basin Street East. I was too young to see her there, due to the liquor laws.

The next time I saw Dusty was at the Plaza Hotel, Persian Room. She was outstanding! Hard to believe that someone can be that talented.

The last time I saw Dusty was at the Grande Finale. Dusty had a very bad cold and was not at her best at that performance. Dusty not at her best, is still better than anyone else at their best!
