Yes I know that Dusty said W&H was a joke song at RAH. I also agree with you Sara that many years have gone by. She obviously liked the song at one time as I personally heard her say it. When she made that comment at Stern's, it was riding high on the US Charts. I think she originally did like the song a lot but grew sick of it as times changed.

Please don't throw rotten eggs at me, LOL!! I originally hesitated to say too much, in fear of creating a very heated argument but I like the song. Also please forgive me if I am not P/C correct, but I must be missing something here. I don't care what your sexual preference is, but to me it's a song about wanting to look nice and make whomever you fancy happy. What is wrong with that I'm sure we have all done it at one time or another!

Marty,
Ducking behind the wall.

PS. Oh no, someone I think must be throwing tomatoes, LOL!

There were a lot of years between the two times Maybe she liked it more at first, but then got sick of singin' those lyrics as the years went on. It is a great tune

Well it was released as a single in the States and it was also the first track Dusty recorded as a solo artist.

Sorry Marty..

I just have to say that at the RAH Concert, Dusty described Wishin and Hopin as a 'Joke Song'..

However I'm not disputing that at the time of you seeing her 'Wishin and Hopin' was her fave.. especially if it was in the charts. It was probably the first title that came into her head.

When I saw Dusty at Stern's Department Store she was asked that question and she said Wishin and Hopin. The autograph signing first started out as a Q & A session. I think she said this because she loved songs penned by Bacharach/David and it was currently on the charts. You have to remember this was many years ago, long before there was such a thing as being P/C correct. PLEEZ let's not get into that.

Yes, it was first released on an EP called "Dusty" in the UK along with I Wish I'd Never Loved You, both are great performances, I was amazed when I first heard the US 45 of this as it's an edited version.

Awesome to know Carole R & Treking (aka Carole) - Sounds like this is the one. Thanks for the input.

I really like it too and it is good to learn that she listened to it 14 times in a row after recording... <big smile>
and that's not just being the perfectionist part I'm assuming... smile. Carole R, Your Dusty Avatar is the absolute cutest Dusty pic. She is so adorable... I probably would have fainted or been unable to speak in her presence since she was such a talent... amazing that I and a lot of us can feel that way...

Dustys fave recording as far as we know, was definitely 'Some Of Your Lovin'..

She said that she listened to it about 14 times straight after recording it.

So, I think we can take it that she liked it...ALOT!

I do too.

Trek,

You know I recall her saying she liked the song "Some of Your Lovin'" too on the BBC DVD I bought and viewed last month. I really like one too. As you probably do - I love a lot of 'em. I really got into "Guess Who?" and recently "Losing You" I especially like "Middle of Nowhere" You Tube version with the back-up singers visible during the song. It is so Jazzy too. Dusty looks so elegant and upbeat during the performance. She was extremely versatile...
