As much as I despise the woman &, as much as I hate to say it, Dusty does look like Camilla in that video. It's all groovy though, let's not put ourselves into cardiac arrest! Poor Janie, bless your little heart, you have taken alot of crap even suggesting that Dusty resembles Camilla, haven't you? Lol, let's give Janie a break, she never meant to compare Dusty to Camilla. Thank you for the insight into the RAH DVD Tusdy...always great to have some inside info  , invaluable such detail  .
Btw, I notice that your message is on three times - we have had a little gremlin in the works over the last couple of days so I haven't removed the two extra ones for fear they ALL disappear. Brilliant post anyway, so more than happy to read it three times 
Also, DON'T tell Liz but at the top of this is, of course.......Dusty Springfield as Camilla Parker Bowles (Duchess of Cornwall)    . It wasn't me who posted it Liz!

Wow. I have to say that Dusty's voice always stops me in my tracks no matter where I'm at or what I'm doing, I just can't concentrate on anything other than her voice. But there's a few select songs by her that make me tear up. Like Where Is A Woman To Go or Poor Way Fairing Stranger (is that right?). I have to say this one has just been added to the list. As always, Dusty delivered a song that managed to conjure up every emotion I have....XOXO |

Yep, I'm happy to have that Royal Albert Hall CD in my collection, too, despite how I feel about the band. Quiet frankly, I'm happy to have anything in my collection of the Dust. I admit that, overall, I'm not very discriminating of Dusty's recordings. As for The Springfields, I'd probably be more receptive to their material if it was just Dusty on it but, as I've said before, folk music has just never been my cup of tea.
I just happened to be discussing this live album with Paul Howes in an email and he told me out of the three reels of 24 track tape one reel is lost and he said that is why the DVD of this show is sourced from the edited television video tape in mono...and that's the reason why "Put Your Hands Together" on the CD is in mono and has that television mix/EQ to it as opposed to the rest of the album. There's been some 'canned applause' from other parts of the concert overdubbed onto it in stereo though. |

There seems to be a general acknowledgement from those involved with the concert, Tusdy, that it was terribly under rehearsed. I'm not sure why that was the case but it seems it was so  .
Having said that, I guess most of us are more than happy to have it in our collection .

I rate her rendition of "lose Again" right up there with any of her studio classics. It is the definitee high point of what is, to me, a rather disappointing concert. She sings that song with as much pure emotion as "I Want To Make You Happy", "IJDKWTDWM", and "Sandra". I do think 98% of the problem with the concert as a whole was that band backing her up played everything so watered-down and cheezy. Sort of like a cocktail band trying to play disco. But "Lose Again" is worth the price of admission. |

Agreed. But to me the way she says just about anything sounds BETTER. Tee hee hee... sorry,,, Love her.
For instance, in "Losing You", I just love the way Dusty says "Why".... she is like no other... Love her!!!!

After touring RAH last month, this seems to have additional meaning to me, as I can picture it better in my mind's eye. Think it's time to watch my DVD again!

You know what.. me too. This was special, although I enjoyed the whole thing. I noticed she giggled and laughed a bit throughout.. Hope she was having fun... looked like it. I especially liked it when she looked into the camera on the "Look of Love". I must say that "Quiet Please, there's a Lady On Stage" was amazingly wonderful.
