Alright... we've listened to 3 versions..so we should be au fait with most of the lyrics.
Speaking for myself, I love the song, but don't quite 'get' the lyrics.

I always wondered a bit about the lyrics to this song myself. After several very careful listens, I decided it's about a one sided love felt relationship that just cannot be let go.
