They say that the first couple of lines in a book, either hook you in, or don't. The same happens with some songs.

I heard a well known songwriter on the radio, and one of the songs he picked as a fave was Paul Simon's 'Still Crazy Afer All These Years(fab)...

He said the opening words'I met an old Lover on the street tonight'
made him want to know more...

Are there any songs, where the first couple of lines, have 'grabbed' you and made you want to know more?

Please quote the lines and the song title.

Thanks!..

I like this one, it takes the form of a phone call:

" Hello there, its been awhile, not much how about you?
I don't know why I called, I guess I really just wanted to talk to you..."

Song title: 'Really Love To See You Tonight'..
Singers: England Dan and John Ford Coley.

I know what you mean Carole, the first few lines of a book have to really catch my attention or I won't buy it.

However one song will ALWAYS spring to mind as it's an ALL TIME GREAT!!! It's a charming little ditty and it goes like this:-

I Don't Know What It Is That Makes Me Love You So
I Only Know I Never Wanna Let You Go

Does it sound familiar?
