I'll let you have three go's at this, if you like.

They wrote the song for their mum when she passed away and whenever I hear it I always think about my mum who is no longer with us either. Much of it though seems appropriate for our Dust... well in my humble opinion if that counts for owt!!

My choices are abit obvious aren't they?..
Some might say 'naff'... ..
But no matter, I AM thinking about it.

Posted - 26/08/2008 : 22:57:43 What a lovely thought provoking thread. I've never thought about dedicating a song to Dusty. Recently, I bought some Jo Stafford CDs in tribute to Jo's passing and because Dusty was influnced by Jo when she was young and listening to her father's records. Dusty went to the Shenandoah river when she was in remission from her breast cancer. She cried her heart out there. When I heard this song I just knew this must have been one of the songs that had helped Dusty get through it all. I listen to the words and they become 'Dusty, I long to see you oh you rolling river..' It fits with 'Roll Away' (it's only time and the river) too. No wonder she was influnced; this is just gorgeous, haunting and so poingnant/sad:

I'd also choose 'So Much Love' which is my all time favourite Dusty performance. She has given me such great music in my life - so full of emotion, verve, intelligence and power. If my heart needs to overflow she's there, if I just want to have fun and live it up she's there, if I want to have my ears pinned to the wall or just be quiet and reflective she's there. So for Dusty, if I could sing, I'd sing this song back to her. She always thought her brilliant gift was a little thing, but for me it turned my musical Winter into an everlasting Spring. Thanks for the music, Dusty. I'll never, ever forget you for what you've done. I'll never turn my back on you for anyone:
