I thought it would be helpful for us to put everything relating to Katy on this one thread from now on in so as things will be easier to find. Perhaps the exception to this might be the schedule for her tour - THAT will surely deserve a thread all of its own!

To start the ball rolling here is an article from the Great Yarmouth Mercury .....well, we do see a bit of life here on the DSN .

Dusty tribute comes to pier
Great Yarmouth Mercury 3 April 2008

THE haunting and powerful songs of the late, great Dusty Springfield come to Great Yarmouth this summer in something of a coup for the Britannia Pier.

Katy Setterfield, winner of BBC's The One and Only programme is confirmed as appearing at the Pier on Saturday, August 30 - her first gig in the UK after completing her three-month prize-winning contract in Las Vegas.

After years of singing, Katy entered the world of the tribute artist in 1993. Performing as Cher, she quickly realised her ability to change her voice was the key to her success.

In 2000, she was invited to audition as the new lead female vocalist in the smash hit That'll Be the Day. Belting out a couple of Cher songs the gig was immediately hers and the opportunity to learn her stage skills was born.

And along the way director Trevor Payne suggested different artists for Katy to impersonate: Tina Turner, Debbie Harry, Shirley Bassey, Sandie Shaw, Brenda Lee, Doris Day and many more were honed at this time.

But the masterstroke came with the discovery of Katy's uncanny ability to “be” Dusty Springfield. Last year, she made the decision to take vocal coaching lessons and it was her coach who suggested Katy enter the BBC1/Endemol show The One and Only.

After reaching the final 10 as both Cher and Dusty she won through to the live contest in January/February and beat 11 other contestants to the prize - a three-month performance contract in Legends, Las
Vegas.

The Britannia Pier Box office is open daily from 10am (April to September) on 01493 842209.

I feel really really awfully terribly guilty about this. I was told by a very close source and even I missed it. To make it worse, I was going to tape it but I messed it up.

I feel so bad. I've been so busy lately that I forgot to pop in to tell you. Just wanted to be honest.

Pleeeeeeeease forgive me.

Well we'll all take turns to slap her for not telling us!

Imagine getting all dressed up as Dusty at that time of the morning!
Janie Posted - 28/08/2009 : 21:39:29
I've just found out that Katy was on breakfast TV here in the UK this morning giving an interview, all dressed up as Dusty .

I'm disappointed to have missed it but even more disappointed that we weren't told she might make an appearance . Many more of us would have tuned in I'm sure. Hey ho, such is life I guess........

Guess what, we even managed to have breakfast with Katy. She is such a lovely person, so much fun to chat with. Aaaaaaaaawwww

Oh Marty, we still haven't managed to get that DVD off the digital that I had promised you. Sorry!!!!
Earthbound Gypsy Posted - 15/06/2009 : 13:42:38
Thanks for posting your story Speedbird. The show you saw sounds very much like the show I saw in Vegas a year ago and I had the same seats as you did!

I'm back after a long silence. Had a couple of busy months with holidays, family events and so on.

Not sure if I should post this here or in the other thread but I've just come back from Berlin and I saw Katy in the Stars in Concert show.

Look here for more details:
http://www.stars-in-concert.com/

We stayed in the same hotel that show was staged in and although it was the most expensive option I could have done... I did.... it was well worth it.

Let me tell you more about it. Had a nice meal before the concert and I started getting all paranoid about whether Katy would perform after all or not. She was supposed to that evening, but you know how it goes when you want something so much. I was getting thoughts about last minute changes so I started whinging to my husband. Stupid I know... So he was like: 'Go up to the reception and they will tell you if she is on tonight or not.' And I'm like: "Are you mad? If they do tell me sorry, she won't be singing tonight, I am going to burst into tears'.... even though I'm a 28 year old married woman.

Then it was time to go and it was a nice surprise to see our seats. The best in the whole audience! Right in the middle of the front row of tables, I could literally touch the stage.

The first act was Elvis Presley and he was sooooooooooooooooo goood! I've never been an Elvis fan but he was unbelievably good, I loved every second! Then came the second act, I could see two mikes being stood in the centre of the stage, in the dark. So I thought, right, must be the Blues Brothers or I don't know. So I look at my hubby, have a little word, then I look back on stage an I can see the silhouette of a beehive!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought my heart was going to jump out And from then on, I just couldn't stop smiling, and basically, having a FANTASTIC time. Katy sang these songs:
- I Only Want To Be With You
- You Don't Have To Say You Love Me
- Wishin' & Hopin'
- The Look of Love
- I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

The latter being my favourite song, I couldn't believe my luck.

I am so rubbish when it comes to describing good things so please forgive me when I just say........ she was fantastic, absolutely fantastic! Apparently Germans in general don't know much of Dusty's music but the audience loved Katy, she had a magical performance. She walked into the audience, using the stairs just on my husband's right. She put her arm on his shoulders and said in the mike: "You look English to me". Ahahahaha So funny! Then she walked around some more and the people loved her!

It was so great to see her in another country, and to experience such a superb show.

The next acts included Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Bette Midler.

Then there was a little meet and greet after the concert where we took these photos.

Katy will be back before Christmas and I would love to go again! All subject to the long suffering husband's approval of course. We'll see.

Janie, the next time you speak with Andy can you please ask him when Katy plans on returning to the States? In Vegas she told me that she planned on coming back this year, maybe doing another Legends, as she has an open ended contract with them, or maybe something else. She said at that point, all she knew is that she would be back.

Just checked the ebay in the States and ebay uk, no Katy on either.

Just received the following message from Andy:

There's been a resurgence of international interest in Katy's Dusty CD - "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me - The Songs Of Dusty Springfield" - so it's available once more through Ebay.

There you go then, Katy fans across the globe .

Thanks so much Janie, I hope she puts all of her CDs on ebay, the last time it was only YDHTSYLM.

Although having read the article thoroughly, I wish the editor could have spent a bit more time doing research... Or am I getting confused this was published yesterday?

Will give you a review tomorrow
Speedbird Posted - 27/03/2009 : 13:02:13
Here's an article from yesterday's local paper:

http://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/search/4237579.Katy_Setterfield__Hertfordshire_s_answer_to_Dusty_Springfield__comes_home/

She was on the local radio last month (I was so lucky to have the radio on!) and she talked about her autumn tour, how she is going to have some more acts. She even sang an a capella version of Sweet Dreams. It's going to be sooooo great!

It is amazing indeed how she is flying in today and will be back to Berlin tomorrow.

Yesterday I booked our hotel room for the Berlin concert so we're all set for June I am just hoping she WILL perform that night... otherwise I will cry

Janie can you please contact Katy one more time and ask how American fans can get her CDs? For awhile she was selling them on ebay I have YDHTSYLM and Moments of Pleasure, but would like her other CDs as well.

I suspect the only difference would be postage rates Marty....I'll see what Andy can confirm. I'll get back to you as soon as I hear from him.

Just heard from Andy this morning. Its a busy weekend as Katy is flying in from Berlin to 'do' her St Albans gig and then flying back out again! Andy though is hoping to get back on e-bay next week Marty - all details required to purchase will be available then online. I hope that helps.

A little update as well on Katy's performances. She has May & most of June in Berlin, then 2 cruises in July and August and a handful of other gigs to keep her busy. Andy tells me that the autumn tour show is coming together with many new ideas. They can't wait to be working together again - we can't wait either
