Well, its 16th April in many parts of the world........Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, would have been 70 years old today.

I hope you know, Ms Sprinngfield, just how much you are missed and loved, not only by those who knew you personally, but by the many legions of fans to whom you have given so much over the decades.........

My appologies....
I'm a day late, as I was unable to access my computer, having been at a rehersal last night...

Nonetheless, I honoured Dusty throughout the day...via a Dusty Marathon of music during my travels...

I'd written a poem for Dusty a while back, in which I felt appropriate to post on here for her Birthday...

Ode To Dusty

It seems like only yesterday
When my ears
First boasted witness
To your voice~~~
The dark clouds hovering above
My head
My starving spirit
You would hoist.
A voice of sweet molasses
Pouring over
The velvet backdrop
Of the night~~~
Your melody just off in the distance
So soothing
Encouraging me to
Give up the fight.
My days of destruction many
Persisting
Insecurities
Which I bear~~~
Finding strength
In all that which
Until now I'd remained
Unaware.
Often misplaced and misunderstood
Better now
I've come to know
At last~~~
I watch the surreal unfold
Before my eyes
A newfound hope
Is finally cast.
Your earthbound presence whisked away
All too soon
But your words
Echo every mile~~~
Your angel face tatooed in the minds
Of so many
Never forgotten
Your Infectuous smile.
Time is eternal as each soul
Concrete
Your mark of each
Endeavour~~~
Touching the lives of so many
Your legacy
Shall carry on
Forever.
We don't have to say we love you
'Cos by now
You finally know
All that which is true~~~
Just Wishin' that you could've
Seen it then....

Dignified
Unique
Stunning
Talented ..... We love
You!!!

Here's honouring you Dusty....
In loving memory and Much Respect!!
Bless your Beautiful Soul!!

Happy Birthday, Girl!!

Just to remind you all that I'll be going to Henley on Monday morning on my way home from the DD celebrations - I'll pop on the marker some blooms on behalf of the DSN .

Perhaps those of you who are going to Ealing may want to make the journey on Monday as well?..time and geography permitting that is. Not sure what time I'll get there - will have a clearer picture on Sunday I suspect.

Nice pictures of the fresh flowers at her marker. Kajunbaby23 is right in saying that all others who are fans and who do not live in the UK appreciate the pictures. A lot of us cannot always travel for one reason or another to DD or other events. Thank you so much for posting Bev.

Thanks for the pix, Bev, they are wonderful! The flowers are so beautiful too. I think it's such a wonderful thing that there are folks around there who can get to her grave to place the flowers & take the pictures so the ones who can't be there can somewhat be a part of it all. I think I can speak on behalf of all of us who can't be there when I say thank you from the bottom of my heart, well, our hearts, and that one day we'll get there to rightfully pay our respects.

I want to recognize Ms. Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien
"Dusty Springfield" the one and only on the occasion of her 70th birthday. Such a wonderful and talented being. Just think we are all alive to experience the singing, photos, books, etc of such a talented woman from the 20th century. A special time in history indeed.

My Dearest Darling Dusty,

"I was once so sad but your music brought the smile back to my face
I hear you sing & I'm taken to the most beautiful place
You're the one who always had such grace
The one with all the style, you are the best there ever was by a mile
With all of the great voices that has ever been out there
You're the one that, to the others, we simply can't compare
You're the one with the voice made of Tupelo Honey &
There is no one else like you, you're The One & Only
You told us all "You don't have to say you love me"
But I think we do
Dusty, I think it's fair to say that we only wanna be with you"

Dusty, you came into my life at time when I was hearing no music at all &, because of you, I got to hear the music again.
Happy birthday, Dusty, you are the one that I heard above all the others.....XOXO

Following Dusty ever since I first heard "Silver Threads and Golden Needles" has changed my life and that is no understatement. Following our gal has been such a big part of my life in more ways than one, particularly bringing me many wonderful friendships with lovely people from all over the world. I cannot imagine life without her.
