Personally, I find this version...Music to nod off to...

What do you think?

Well I could never nod off when Dusty is onstage, she looks gorgeous on that clip. Too bad these clips keep freezing from time to time.

I have to say yet AGAIN, if all those wonderful Dusty performances are available to put on YouTube then WHY can't they be released on dvd?

The clip wouldn't be as nod-worthy if the camera and the accompaniment had been more creative. Dusty's vocals are lovely.

Thanks for posting.

I love this song!
She did a better version of it, it's on the 'Heart and Soul' CD, almost made me cry when I first heard it.. That's my fvourite version of it ever. What show's that one from? I can't remember..

I'm sure we can figure that out by consulting The Paul Howes Bible.

Its from either TheBBC Rolf Harris Show Jan 1971 when she also sang 'Knowing When To Leave'..

Or, The Andy Williams Show July 1971, which was transmitted on BBC 1.

I'm guessing The Rolf Harris Show.

I think the one on the 'Heart and Soul' CD is from the Andy Williams show. I think.

So what about accompanying the writer, Carole King (and her perm.)..'Up On The Roof'..?

I'm going with The Drifters I like their faster paced version. This was the version that made the UK Charts...

My favourite version is the Drifters' as well.

I have that entire Carole King concert on VHS. It's pretty WOW from start to finish.

The song itself is so descriptive. It paints such a lovely picture of a getaway in the middle of a busy city. I can imagine sitting on a rooftop in New York, sipping my Perrier, and soaking up the sun.

...for as long as I can remember, this song been able to make me dissolve into a sobbing, soggy heap and a crumpled, weeping, messy puddle... .....I'm not usually much of a crier, AT ALL!

As I started educating myself about less well known Dusty "stuff" and saw that she had sung it on TV, I knew that I would be in serious trouble when I finally heard her version of it!!!

Needless to say Dusty's various interpretations "trip me up" almost every time I hear them... no matter how hard I've tried to desensitize myself to this song! I guess I might eventually learn to succumb....!!

I'd love to go 'up on the roof' with Dusty

I think Dusty really brings out a melancholy quality in this song that no other singer has done. It's exquisite in my opinion - her vocals are so touching.

I think this clip is a very shortened version of the original performance from the Rolf Haris Show that was included on the Dusty tribute "Dusty at the BBC" just after Dusty passed away.

Thanks Carole..hope you haven't slipped into a coma yet

Paul.

LOL! What is she doing with that guitar?!
I still think the version on the Heart and Soul CD is the best version of it ever.
