BBC 4 (tv) have a programme -'Sounds of the sixties', a ten week look back at the music from the 60's in the BBC archives.
Tonight we get THE SHADOWS, ROLLING STONES, BEATLES AND THE SPRINGFIELDS!
Should be worth watching.

Brian.

N:B - Draw your curtains as most of it will be in black & white, and the neighbours will think you can't afford a 'colour' license

Well it was pure nostalgia!.
The Springfields started the show, but unfortunately we have seen it many, many times ('Wimoweh')...but still it was a good start.
Lenny the lion..I LOVE Lenny the lion...then PINKY & PERKY...such stars, such dedication to music. Did you know they split-up 'due to musical differences'?
Wasn't CRAIG DOUGLAS DYNAMIC!?...he made Val Doonican look like a hippy...and his dancing had to be seen to be believed.
Pinky & Perky 'sang' 'Let's twist again' with a wonderful 'solo' spot from a dancing duck who looked like Miss Ewell from 'Please Sir' with a string of pearls. The Beatles, Billy J Kramer, Gerry & The Pacemakers, the awful Freddie & The Dreamers, Eamon Andrews (thank God he didn't sing 'Softly whispering sands'!
All in all a half hour that REALLY took you back.

Awww! I was just scrolling down to see what time it's on, I miss everything!
Oh well, glad it was good
My mum once told me she was scared of Pinky and Perky and she hated them

OMG!.....It looked so dated..

Apart from The Springfields... The stand out acts for me:

Craig Douglas grinning like a Cheshire cat whilst singing 'Oh Lonesome Me'...His really was 'Dad Dancing'.

The Beatles getting pelted with Jelly Babies whilst singing 'She loves you' was classic.

...and the Rolling Stones with the fabulous 'Last Time'...

Nostalgia aint what it used to be....
