Teda posted this info' on another thread, but as its so interesting, I want to make certain that no-one misses it.

The musical on Dusty will be coming in October. They had to take care of some problems. They were trying to find a stage. If anything changes I'll let everyone know. Problems with the producers. xx

I hope it isn't the Australian musical, but one with a lot more style and taste..........

I think it will be the Australian one, Douggie..

You were obviously unimpressed, and yet many people seem to have enjoyed it.

What was it that you took particular exception to?..

I suppose that if you didn't know any difference it probably wouldn't matter. BUT I DO Know and the fact is that this show is a complete fabrication and the writers imaginations going wild. When I knew of this show several years before it came out here in Australia I tried to stop it then, but to no avail. I took part in the ABC television show about this show only to withdraw my consent after doing more that sixteen plus hours of filming when I found out it was to be used as a promotional tool for this musical. I had been told lies to get me to do these interviews as it may have given the show more crediblity to have Dustys former Musical Director/Bass Player seeming to be involved with show and this project. Andy also had the same problems. I tried to be subtle in my comments about this show when discussing it on the web site at the time. I could go on about things, but people will probably enjoy the music as it is the music done by Dusty. Most of the story line and quite a few of the main people in the show never existed they were made up. I think that they insulted Dusty her family and her friends. It does not show Dusty in a true light, not for me or many others that actually knew her. Even things that they think are facts are wrong. But this was writen by people who had never even met her, their feelings for her and her life are of little consequence and making money being the main aim. The number of people that really knew Dusty is shrinking. These are the ones that know the truth it would be great if for once the proper story could be told, but someone has to ask the right questions to get the right answers. There was more to her than just - Is she? - isn't she? - did she? - didn't she? - will she? - won't she? Unless you were there and involved you will never never never know!
I know a very big chuck of it from 1963/1971 probably more than anybody else from that period. We were very good friends and I toured the World with her a lot. I want people to remember her, her music, her life but more for the good things and the happiness she gave. This show is depressive and is concerned with rumours rather than fact. A show could be done using the facts as facts are sometimes better and stranger than fiction.
I have had this to cope with for the last four or so years, and was hoping that by now somebody in Britain would have put pen to paper and done a really great show about The Best female singer that Britain has ever produced. I would be more than willing to help in any way I can!! It should be done by the people that really love and care for Dusty the person.

What a great post from Douggie.

It would be wonderful if they would do it your way.

I don't; know how much truth was in the film Funny Girl with Barbra Streisand as I never knew Fanny Brice but I thought that film was fantastic, so it would be good if they ever got around to making a film about Dusty if it was as good as that.

Dusty deserves the very best, I can understand how Douggie feels about the musical. I saw one in Manchester years ago with Mari Wilson and I thought it was dreadful !

Thankyou for your post about this Show, Douggie.

It's so nice to hear from someone who knew Dusty for 'being Dusty'..not for how 'they want her to be'..

Everyone has many facets to their character and Dusty was no exception, I'm sure.

However, you make a good point, when you say that the number of people who reallyknew Dusty is dwindling scarily fast.

I only hope that something , sincere and good is done about her before we are only left with the Golddiggers and others who will set their own agenda.

Its unbelievable that someone say like Cameron Macintosh hasn't picked up Dusty's story and really concentrated on making a fine musical out of it.

Lets hope someone, genuine, does before its too late.

Thanks Again for your Post, Douggie... Your love and concern for Dusty and her memory shines thru it.

Thanks for the information Teda, and the insight Douggie.

Personally as a fan I find much more pleasure in watching Dusty's performances rather than watching people speculate on her private life. Anything stage-worthy has already been put out there by the lady herself, what more could I ask for?

Hi Linda
Thanks to people like Teda and others for being able to contribute to Dustys life without all the negative aspects which she never wanted she only wanted to be happy! It was really a shame that the shows we did were never filmed. Things like that back then were very hard to organize and a lot more expensive to do with film. We never had DVD cameras they just were not invented, but we did have standard 8mm then super 8mm film cameras that only ran for three minutes no sound though not at first. Those that were lucky enough to see her live in the 60's will I'm sure testify just how great she was.
