Hello everyone at DSN, and thanks SO much for this lovely welcome- I think I'm definately going to enjoy my time with you all, chatting about random things and sharing my quirky sense of humour :)

So I suppose you wish to know a bit more about me? Well ok here goes...

Who am I?

My real name is Emma, and i'm a 19 year old student from the West Midlands. I'm currently in my second year at university, studying a BA(Hons)which I hope will further my aspiration to becoming a primary school teacher in the near future!

Why choose the name 'Motown Diva'?

Well to be honest, I wanted a name that sounded cool- glad to see that Vera, Janie and Carole agree ;)! Second, even though I like contemporary music, I have to say that I feel more at home listening to the sounds of soul/motown- especially because they make great records to have a boogy too! hehe! My love for motown comes from my father's genes, and I have grown up listening to the likes of; Diana Ross, Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Fontella Bass, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, to name just a few! Although I wasn't born or even around in the 60s, to me it's where I feel my 'soul' really belongs.

Dusty & Me

Dusty in some respects has always been apart of my life. Although I was only 10 when Dusty left us, her music was integrated into the musical culture I have grown up with. The first Dusty track I ever heard was 'Son of A Preacher Man', and it is one that stands alongside some of my favourite Dusty songs- although I love them all! The first time I caught a glimpse of Dusty on t.v., was on the video for the track 'What Have I Done To Deserve This?' which she recorded with the Pet Shop Boys. Even then when I was about 12/13, I vaguely remember being fascinated with Dusty's image and presence on screen.

For a few years though as with most teenagers, life took over and my interests in music/fashion etc, shifted with the times- although my love for motown and Dusty still remained. I do however have to thank the show 'The One and Only'- and particularly Katy, for rekindling my 'Dusty flame' which burns now more than ever and will never cease to go out. I think that because I'm older and more mature now(although that is sometimes a ebate in itself!), I can appreciate and learn more about Dusty- so I'm extremely honoured to be apart of such a community who can if you like 'fill in the blanks' for me :).

If you have managed to stay awake and reach this part of the page then well done! hehe ;) I think I may have waffled a bit- I could sart my own biography! There is so much more I would love to share with you all, and definately will within the other forums. So you now know just a little bit more about me, I look forward to getting to konw you all!:)

Love Motown Diva xXx

Thanks for telling us a little bit more about yourself Emma.

I'm young myself (20) and I have been part of the Dusty Community for quite a long time now. But that is nothing compared to the time some of our members spent with being dedicated to the music of the 60s, Motown and Dusty... It's always great to have a bonefire atmosphere (as far as that is possible) and talk to people about what they experienced. And we youngsters can contribute to that a lot, too - so don't shy away from posting

Anyway - I think I can relate to what you wrote and I'm really looking forward for your future posts.

PS: KATY ROCKS (had to be said).

Thanks to Vera for introducing me to this wonderful new world of Dusty- and I agree how it is important to contribute, as I intend to make sure the next generation know all about Dusty, and so want to absorb as much new info as possible!

I like Motown too Diva, Dusty though for me is wayyyyyy above anything else....however i do like lots of other music as well...once driving to the island of Elba from Rome ( Italy ) ... i had my Italian family in the back of the car...i then played the Coldplay CD X&Y over and over again..i loveeeeee that CD.. When we finally reached Elba they started to hum along all Coldplay songs hahahahaha!!! Funny that..

Anyway its super that younger people like you joined, as Dusty's music will live on forever.

Hi Emma, nice to have you here. Thanks for the great introduction!

I'm also in love with Motown, lucky for me I live in the Detroit area, but on the Canadian side of the border. I get plenty of Motown love on the airwaves here.
