Hello everyone. I am I guess a very new convert to Dusty although I've known her music for years but never really got into her until I watched the one and only. I thought Katy was the best performer from the start and I missed a show one week and went on to yahoo video search to see if I could find the show. Naturally this lead me to youtube and performances of the real Dusty. Seeing the mid sixties Dusty blew me away. No disrespect to Katy but you can't beat the real thing. So I immediatly ordered 6 cd's , a book and the BBC series and have watched loads on youtube. My impressions so far? Amazed at how Dusty's facial appearances change quickly over relatively short periods of time especially from 66 to 70. Amazed at her vocal style changes.
Her BBC performances are fantastic but the sequence on 8th Sept 66 are superb - however I don't want to go on without you is perhaps the most spellbinding performance by a female singer in the history of pop.
Is she the greatest of them all? Well I can't think of anyone better than when she was at her peak or with a broader range of styles although it is down to personal taste.
Sorry for the long scribe but I wanted to share my thoughts.
Hi there! Welcome to the DSN - Nice to have you here...
It's lovely to see a new member talk about their background and it's good to get to know each other. So don't be sorry for writing so much... We love long posts! In fact I'm looking forward to you next ones!
Both Katy and Dusty are two great singers. But of course Dusty was the best and greatest of them all... There is no doubt
Hi noidea1960, welcome to DSN! I'm quite a new member to this site myself, but already I feel as though I've been here for ages! Lovely to read your intro- I expect there are thousands more people like yourself who have become 'Dusty Converts' over the past few weeks Which can only ever be a good thing.
God bless Katy Setterfield and The One and Only (AND the Superfans of course ).
M Diva and noidea1960......great to see you both......I think what we'll have to do on the forum here is to go back through the archives over a period of time. In this way we can introduce some of the newer members who are also relatively 'new' to Dusty to some of the wonderful material we have discussed/shared/laughed about/cried over.
If there is anything any of you 'newbies' particularly want to talk about/share with us please give us an idea and we can get cracking! Exciting times ahead methinks..........
