So what does this mean for the beef industry in the UK? A halt on exports? Or just a quarantine for that farm? I can't find a link to the story on yahoo, so perhaps it's not as serious as, say, Nicole Richie's personal life.


I have a chronic case of foot-in-mouth disease but thankfully it doesn't make the evening news.

LOL!.. You and me, both, Linda!..

Looks possible that this outbreak could be due to a bug 'escaping' from an animal research laboratory close to the field which houses the infected animals

The virus in the infected animals is the same one used for vaccinations, NOT the usual sort which is passed on from animal to animal.

Rather ironic that Research into protecting the animals from Foot and Mouth looks likely to have caused the present problem.
