I would like to ask several questions concerning Hacking...

I am sure that others on this site also belong to Dustyville. If so, you know that this Yahoo Site has been hacked and you need to be very careful with what you open on there.

I had to re-enter my User ID and Password to get onto DSN this morning. Does that mean I've been hacked on here too? This does occassionally happens (having to re-enter my info). Never really thought very much about it until now.

I attempted to open my Face Book Account this morning, only to get a notice that my account has been hacked and I need to change my Password. Unfortunately, I know so little about this, but I can't help but feel concerned about being hacked and what damage the hackers could have caused?

I understand that the FBI is now working on this. I certainly hope they are punished to the full extent of the law.

Marty

The problem I noticed with Dustyville is that the link which almost inevitably allowed accounts to be hijacked kept appearing on the forum. I'm not sure who is responsible for Dustyville these days but the whole site should have been pulled many days ago.

I guess the problem is that when we 'trust' a site (in this instance Dustyville) there is a tendency to think that the links which appear are safe. They are NOT and should be viewed with extreme caution. I suspect that the vast majority of us have clicked on something we shouldn't have.

Yahoo and yahoo emails have been hacked something rotten over many, many months by spammers - who knows what information they glean. Many people I know have had all their contacts removed and even email accounts from dead people have been resurrected and used to send out spam. It is extremely worrying what is happening - it seems that the yahoo security breach may have been on the server rather than customers clicking on a spurious link which is even more horrryifying because that means that know matter how careful you are your data can be nicked.

Did you have to change your password for the DSN Marty?

Just read the details on the link you provided Frans - it hasn't mentioned what hundreds of btinternet email account holders have said (bt use yahoo mail) - and that is that even changing passwords doesn't work as no sooner has the password and other security changed, the accounts have been hacked again i.e. suggesting that the hackers have got behind the security the ordinary user puts in place i.e. the breach is at Yahoo.

Sadly it sounds like I will have to automatically delete Dustyville without reading it in the future. Not a happy camper. I was also told not to put any personal info on Facebook, ie the town you are from, birthdays, etc.- so I will have to change that too. Thanks for the tip about changing my DSN password. As you mentioned, it may not help but it can't hurt either. Wonder if the same holds true for Facebook?
