Hey everyone!

As you can see from my nickname Sgt. Pepper I am a fan of the wonderful Fab Four: The Beatles!

Is there anybody out there who shares my passion?

Luv, Sgt. Pepper

I like the Fab 4 and have some albums which I still play quite abit.
I think they epitimise the 60's and set the standard for lots of other groups.

I adore the Fab Four, Sgt. Pepper.

Like Trek, I think they epitomise the Sixties, along with the Rolling Stones, Dusty and Motown.

The Sixties would NOT have been the same without The Beatles.

Rubber Soul is my favourite Beatles Album.

I live quite near Liverpool, and have been on The Magical Mystery Tour Bus.. which takes you around all the places they sang about, Penny Lane etc...

I have visited Forthlin Rd Liverpool where Paul McCartney lived with his family. That is now a National Trust House....Well worth visiting.

I have also visited the house where John Lennon lived with his Aunt Mimi on Menlove Avenue Liverpool, That is also a National Trust House. It was given to the National Trust by Yoko.
Also worth visiting.

As far as I am concerned, John Lennon and Paul McCartney are the musical geniuses of our time.

I think you could say I am a fan!...

Yeah, nothing is real... that's my fave Beatles song (or one of them). I love the Beatles
I've heard people say they're over rated, but they're so not.. they were geniuses, and no one will ever be like them again.

Great and fine to read such wonderful postings!

I have heard that there is a bus where you can go on a trip through the "Beatles-Liverpool". That's a very great idea to make a move and come to Liverpool. I just love England and also The Beatles.
Where would we be without those four wonderful guys? I just love them.

My favourite Beatle is John, but I also like Paul as well.
Sometimes I think that John was absolutely mad and stupid when he married Yoko Ono and left his first wife Cynthia and his little son Julian (You know the song "Much too late for Goodbyes"?). She is a very nice person but Yoko is...oh...let's say a little bit weird. As you can read from my sentences I am not a great fan of Yoko and her "art". I don't like this topic, so let's stop talking about.

Hey Sgt Pepper

I know what you mean about Yoko. However, no matter what we think about her she was surely John's passion? She seemed to be what he needed....... Sure as hell I can't explain that one, but I guess its not my place?

As all who know me well would say, Dusty Springfield and The Beatles epitomised my teenage years. I'm not sure its a suitable topic for a thread, but it is a point worth pondering - would I be any different had Dusty and The Beatles never existed? Bugger it...this is a Dusty Springfield forum and I will ask the question re Dusty on the General forum!

In the meantine....'Revolver' is my favourite Beatles album.....30 shillings worth....15 weeks of pocket money.....most kids these days could buy two albums a week. Now we know why the world is falling apart!

It is very hard to find the best album of the Fabs.
I just like all albums they made in 8 years.
There is Rock'n'Roll, great Beat, music like Motown, strange music with a psychedelic touch and Easy Listening. I really do not want to think about that. It would be very hard for me to find it.
There are a lot of great songs e.g. "She loves you", "No Reply", "A Day in the Life" or "Something" but there are also songs which belong to the section "garbage". That's my opinion.

But I am still searching for the old records of the Beatles but you hardly find good material in the modern times. But if you find some good material you must spend lots of money to buy it. That's mad.

I don't have a favourite Beatles album, my favourites are all random ones from different ones like Strawberry Fields, Dear Prudence, Lucy In The Sky etc.

The Red Album and Blue Album should be very good to have almost all good songs of the Fabs.

One of the many brilliant aspects of The Beatles singles was that the 'B' sides were equally as good as the 'A' sides.

This Boy, Yes it is, Daytripper, Strawberry Fields Forever, were ALL 'B' sides that could have been hit records in their own right.

Unlike today, where recording companies stick the same song (instrumental or disco version) on the 'B' sides more often than not.

I love The Beatles too!
For my 18th birthday,my folks bought me The Beatles Box Set on vinyl. It's one of my most prized possessions.
John's my favourite... and my favourite song would have to be "Across The Universe".

Ah yes, "Across The Universe" is a very beautiful song. One of my favourites!!!
Which box set do you mean, marg?

@ Carole R.
You're right. I also think that some of the B sides were really A sides indeed.
You mentioned "Strawberry Fields Forever". I can remember that this song was published together with "Penny Lane". I think both songs were published as an A side. There was no B side. Great!

More than the Beatles, I'm a fan of John Lennon. I read Ray Coleman's biography of John and fell in love with him. I've also seen several documentaries about John and am fascinated with his vulnerability and passion. I can really identify with him. No disrespect to the other Beatles (who were also profoundly successful beyond the Beatles years), but John is my real obsession.

Ray Coleman wrote a John Lennon biography too?! I never knew that. Is it still in print? Took me ages to find his Carpenters one, I had to keep borrowing it from the library at first

Sara x
P.S. Strawberry Fields Forever was on the radio this morning (okay, afternoon) and woke me up

Sgt. Pepper you were correct; Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane was released as a double 'A' Side..

Sara, I believe that the Ray Coleman bio' of John was the best, as it was done with the co-operation of Yoko.. It's called 'Lennon. The Definitive Biography'

Ray Coleman is a fantastic writer. After reading several biographies on various artists, by various authors, I believe he's one of the best (aside from the fact that he always connects the personal issues of the subject with the songs and that drives me up the wall). I don't think it's in print any longer, but I found a copy on ebay (as well as the Carpenters bio). Next on my Coleman list is Brian Epstein's bio, I'm waiting for it to arrive.
