Much talk and hype about a film profiling the life of Britains first Lady PM ..Margaret Thatcher.
It will concentrate mainly on events leading up to, and during the Falklands War.
TWO queries for you to ponder:
1. WHO should play the roll of Maggie?..
2. WHAT should the film be titled?..

I've recently heard of this potential Movie too, probably following on from the sucess of 'The Queen' (Helen is wrong for Maggie though!)
Very difficult to think of an Actrees who could portray Maggie when in her 50's, Sylvia Syms once played her in TV drama about her downfall, most excellently too, but Sylvia wouldn't be suitable now.
The Actress Maxine Peake has sprung to mind, she has played a couple of 'controversial' Women of late, Maxine certainly has the right colouring, age her up a bit and with a voice coach she could be just the ticket!
As for the title, how about just plain and simple 'Mrs. Thatcher'.....less is more, as they say!!

Maxine Peak, I think I know who you mean, Mark.
Jane Horrocks might be okay, but she'd have to 'purge' the Northern accent!...
I was thinking maybe, 'The Iron Lady' or 'The Grocers Daughter'...Wasn't there one years ago called The Coal miners Daughter?...(Most UNSUITABLE for Maggie!)...

I can think of nothing WORSE than a film about her - the real life thing was bad enough!! Bruce Lee was good at dragons wasn't he?....but he's dead.

I'm in Brian's (not) fan club.
In 1987 she said, "There is no such thing as society"
also
As God once said, and I think rightly...
A world without nuclear weapons would be less stable and more dangerous for all of us. Just like a society without guns and knives i suppose.
I was so glad to see the back of her

Please don't assume that 'cos I've mentioned that 'they' might make a film about her, I'm a fan.
I just thought it may be fun to think about who could play her etc...
I'm not a fan of ANY politicians..I consider them all to be unreliable hypocrites who, once they get voted in, just go about feathering their own rather 'well to do' nests.

I won't Carole, i wouldn't have thought you a fan of hers
I'll try to come up with a title though.
I recall Neil Kinnock's retort to her comment about society and have just found it:
"'No such thing as society', she says. No obligation to the community. No sense of solidarity. No principles of sharing or caring. 'No such thing as society'. No sisterhood, no brotherhood. No neighbourhood. No honouring other people's mothers and fathers. No succouring other people's little children. 'No such thing as society'. No number other than one. No person other than me. No time other than now. No such thing as society, just 'me' and 'now'. That is Margaret Thatcher's society."

I'm a great admirer of Jane Horrocks and much as i wouldn't like her to do it i agree that she certainly could, she's very talented.
Has anyone else seen her totally amazing performance in Little Voice?

Ewan McGregor gives one of his better performances and Brenda Blethyn deserved her Oscar nod , but standing head and shoulders above the entire cast is Jane Horrocks as LV . The fact that she wasn`t Oscar nominated in the title role is one of the biggest travesties in recent academy award history

Didn't see Little Voice Rob, but did hear it was good.
Ladies who are being considered for the Roll of Maggie(according to the newspapers)..
Meryl Streep...... Thought to be too 'ethereal' Anjelica Houston..... " " " too 'haughty' Helen Mirren....... Impossible, surely?
Out of those three I'd choose Meryl, but I think a British actress would be best.
