There are many stunning buildings throughout the World.
Most, we have only seen in books and on film.
...But which is the most impressive building that you, yourself, have ever set foot into?..

My all time favourite building in the entire World has always been New York's Empire State building, I just stood there in sheer amazement!.....Here's a few views from my one and only visit so far!

My all time fave building in Britain is London's St. Paul's Cathedral, funnily enough I was in the area yesterday evening!

Lovely stuff! What an interesting topic.
My favourite was the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, in 1997. Too long ago!

One impressive building that I frequent, thanks to the fact that my brother lives a few blocks away. The CN Tower in Toronto

Thanks for all the great pics!...
Agree with ya Mark, about The Empire State Building...
Those Roman Baths are brilliant aren't they Rob?You can almost 'see' The Roman Gents in there.
St. Pauls looks lovely on that pic, Mark. Is there STILL scaffolding around it?
Can you go to the top of the CN Tower, Linda?
Another question:Does anyone know why the RAH was built 'in the round'? (I don't!)..
I've passed the RAH on many occasions, but unfortunately NEVER been inside...
Who lives in Waddesdon Manor, Sparkie?..VERY smart residence.

Yes, there are several levels in the main 'bulb' at the top, and if you're feeling brave, you can even go out onto the outdoor observation deck and feel the wind in your face (there are times when it's not permitted due to high winds or lightening.) There's also a section with a plexiglass floor so when you're standing there you can look directly down. And there's an awesome revolving restaurant, too, so the view outside your window gradually changes. Some people claim to get nauseated, though.

I think the RAH was based on the idea of an amphitheatre constructed with regard to getting the best quality of sound... but don't take my word for it!!
I've been to the RAH 4 times for concerts and shows (The Corrs x 2, Victoria Wood x 2 - unfortunately I was too young when Dusty was there ; if I'd been old enough though I'd have been there trust me!!). The interior is very nice as well!!

Waddesdon Manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild during the late 1870s and early 80s. Nobody actually lives there anymore as James de Rothschild bequeathed Waddesdon to the National Trust in 1957. A family charitable trust, under the chairmanship of Lord Rothschild, now manages the Manor for the Trust. You should see the inside of the place…!!!!

I am determined to see a show at the RAH before I depart this mortal coil !...
Do they have guided tours around there, do you know?
I've been on a Guided Tour of Drury Lane Theatre.. but never seen a show there.
Re...'The Manor'... The wealth that is in this country is unbelievable!..
Equally unbelievable is, that it is only shared by a chosen few...

Well, the RAH certainly impresses me, inside and outside. In the early seventies my then girlfriend sang in Welsh choir that performed at the RAH. I wasn't there, and sadly have not been inside.......YET!

Here is my favorite building, The Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. I worked there from 1986 til 1993, when a riot and a few earthquakes put a damper on LA tourism, resulting in many lay-offs - including me.

That must have been interesting!! I drove by that building last year on my vacation.
That reminded me, I was in San Francisco in 1991. The Conservatory of Flowers:

The corn cob towers in Chicago are interesting. My aunt lives there.

Thanks Mark...Its such a shame that these clean up jobs take so long!
I was around that area about two years ago and there was scaffolding there then.
York Minster ALWAYS has scaffolding around it. One they get to the beginning they have to start again!... Not sure what they are actually DOING.. but scaffolding comes as part of the package.
Tere, THAT hotel you worked in, looks fantastic.I guess you liked it, as you spent quite a time there. Sorry you got made redundant. That aint nice.
Linda... I LOVE the Conservatory of Flowers, and so appropriate, in San Francisco..The 'Flower Power' Capital of the World!
