I remember the first time I saw Jesus Christ Superstar on TV, sometime in the mid-1980's, when it aired on Good Friday. This is the scene that made a huge impression on me. Every year since then, I've watched JC Superstar on Good Friday. This movie is so bizarre and amazing. It's incredible on stage, too. I've gone a few times.

Welcome to my annual tradition:

The actor who plays Simon Peter is perfect for the part, with the hair and eyes. Somewhere around the 2:15 mark he goes completely mad, it's rather incredible, the whole scene. Incredibly exciting choreography. In the dirt, no less.

The link works.
Thats really good. I've seen Jesus Christ Superstar in London once ages ago and enjoyed it.

I was also involved with making costumes for a school production in the mid 80's.

Yes, it's performed by "Mary Magdelene" as a reflection on her confused feelings about JC. It's a beautiful melody.

Years ago, I photographed Yvonne Elliman, who sang Mary Magdalene on the original "Jesus Christ Superstar" album.

She said she was busking outside a cinema in Leicester Square, when Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice approached her. They offered her 200 pounds to sing Mary Magdalene or a percentage of "Jesus Christ Superstar". She was broke and took the 200. Who knew?

Wow!... That is SO interesting FN..

They would've known she'd take the cash.
