A number of us from the site together with a few other fans and the inimitable Betty were seen at Dusty's marker on the anniversary of what would have been her 68th birthday.
The flower arrangements were superb and I have done my best to capture them on camera - more were actually laid after I had taken the photos so apologies to Trudy as her bouquet was quite stunning but regrettably missed off my shots. In addition there were some lovely cards laid by friends and fans alike.
Also of note and the cause of some excitement for us Dusty fans is the fact that a reporter and photographer from the Guardian newspaper were there. They are doing an article on various sites of interest associated with the world of music - one such site is Dusty's marker at St Mary's Church in Henley. Many, many photographs and comments were taken of/from the people who were there. Tmak will be able to advise us when the article is coming out in print ('T' wowed the young photographer and I am fully expecting a full page spread of T alone, talk about mention of Dusty's marker!). Just watch this space for details!
In the meantime, here are a couple of photos of the flowers - one of course includes three adoring fans.....Tmak, Janie and Jane!! Smile ladies please

I'm sure she won't mind my saying that she might well have been in the Catherine Wheel at the time with some Dusty stalwarts!!!! (i.e the local hostelry!!!)

Hi everyone,
Lovely pictures. Yes the marker did look stunning, it seemed that everyone was of the same mind 'colourwise'...amazing! When I ordered the flowers,I told the florist lady that the bouquet was for Dusty Springfield's birthday from her fans, and she had said "Oh! I will keep her in mind as I put it all together", and she looked very pleased! So when I collected the oasis from the florists on Saturday, I told her what a great job I thought she had made of the floral tribute, and she blushed and said... 'I put a few extra in for Dusty' awww! I thought that was very sweet.
Love to you all Janice xxx |

I got home safely last night after a wonderful time away!! It was great to see so many people again, and to make some new buddies!!!
Here is the photo that I took late in the afternoon last Tuesday in Henley - I think it may have been the peak flower display!!! By that time, one could hardly see the stone!!!
....note picture of Mary (from California) - we tried to make it look like she was actually at Dusty Day....not very successfully!
This one is of Pearl (my pal, who conveniently lives in Henley), and the afore mentioned, Betty, and Trudy (who ran the auction at DD2006) at the Catherine Wheel on Monday afternoon... after the "rabble" had left!!
