The UK's song's rubbish, heard it on the radio this morning. Can't remember what it went like but I remember wanting to throw something at the radio and telling it to shut the hell up!

It would be to unbearable to sit through the whole programme, the best Eurovision songs were from the late 60's to the mid 70's......remember Abba?!!
As soon as I saw 'Scooch', I thought "hello, Steps mark 2"!

I've just forced myself to sit through it all ! It really was unbelievable. If this is the best songwriters can do they should give up. Apart from the UK entry which must be the worst we've ever put forward, 19 others could fill the same category. For me there were just 4 songs that had at least a bit of merit...these were : GERMAN ENTRY - a big band number WITH a tune SWEDISH ENTRY - rock 'n' roll like Mud and Showaddywaddy used to do in '74. It did however have a melody. LITHUANIAN ENTRY - nice ballad, extremely well sung, again with a tune. HUNGARIAN ENTRY - this was the MAJOR suprise for me, as it was a BLUES number, sung by a woman who seemed to know what blues was. I hope it wins!...of course it won't. I WON'T MENTION THE UKRAINE ENTRY

Ok....we have the result. 'Ugly Betty' from Serbia won. Perhaps SOMEONE will know where Serbia IS now Actually it was a good performance of a pretty awful song, but the woman looked like K D Lang's wardrobe girl. We (UK) CAME SECOND BOTTOM - only rescued by Ireland (who came bottom) giving us 7 points, and Malta who gave us 12 points because they couldn't spell Macedonia, Lithuania & Bosniahertzawhatsit That's it for another year - 24 'acts' destined for oblivion.
Congratulations

I've only seen the semi-final so far, (as i'm in Australia) but I found out about Serbia's win on wikipedia, and came on here to clarify :). I was really shocked/suprised that Serbia won! I saw it as a forgettable kd.lang attempt type song. I wasn't surprised that Poland didn't make it into the grand final. We were dreadful!. The songs I DID like were:
Push the Button - teapacks (Israel). Who doesn't like a political statement? :) Love Power - The KMG's (Belgium). I love a get down and boogie type song. Comme Ci, Comme Ca - Evridiki (Cyprus) Visionary Dream - Sopho Khalvasi (Georgia). For their first entry I thought it was fabulous.
I am yet to see the Grandfinal, so it would be interesting to see what the Big 4 have on offer ;)
*Amy*
"Gimme a vhiskey" - Greta Garbo.
Basically I'm a drag queen myself - Dusty Springfield |

I can't HELP but wonder how BAD The Irish Entry was...
It must be a far cry from Johnny Logan and Dana...

It really was pretty awful. At least the bits I watched were--I kept channel flicking!
The voting is just so funny as you can say who's going to get the votes in the eastern block before they even announce them!!

I watched some of this. It was the campest thing I've seen on television..EVER!!
I was with some friends watching it and there was general disgruntle-ment (to put it politely), that the UK gave no points to Ireland. The Northern Ireland peace-process may be in trouble already
For sheer campness and entertainment I thought the Ukraine should have won - all the songs were rubbish. They need to bring back a real orchestra if they want to rescue the show from becoming an absolute farce PLUS a ban on voting for your neighbour.

Have you ever wondered how our song, no matter how ridiculous OR dire it is, always gets into the Grand Final?
You haven't?...Well I have!..
The answer to this riddle was in our newspaper the other day.
It seems that because the BBC promotes The Eurovision and has the rights etc.. that our song will always be in the Grand Final, shown on TV...
Isn't that whats known as a 'Fiddle?'...

I think its changed in that the first few votes are put in without the announcer going through them, cause so many countries take part now --they would be doing it til after midnight!
I think its a case of may the worst song win these days not the best! Oh and the most outrageous costume must come into the equation
