So,it seems that Knitting is the new black.

Madonna, Britney and other 'luminaries' have been spotted knitting at every available opportunity.

It is supposed to be a good stress -buster and you can watch telly whilst doing something worthwhile thereby , dismissing the 'Couch Potato' image..

Can you knit?and if yes, have you ever made anything good?..A Scarf don't count!...

...and if you CAN'T knit, now that you know that is street-wise and trendy will you learn??

I used to teach crafts as well as Home Economics--so yes I can knit but haven't for ages. I used to do alot of Macrame which is knots really .

I've over the years knitted jumpers, soft toys, gloves.

I don't intend to follow Madonna and start knitting again.

I once got my mum to teach me how to knit, and I knitted about two lines and got bored. Can't remember how to now. I hated all the sewing, cookery etc. lessons at school

I used to like making friendship bracelets when I was about 10. Does that count?

My Oma was always knitting. I think she had knitting needles attached to her armpits. Interesting thing about her, she was totally blind. Mostly she made scarves and blankets, lol. And, bless her, they were the most god awful colours...!! lol ... For Christmas in 1990 she knit me a blanket that I absolutely adore. She had my Opa coordinate the colours so it's quite beautiful. A few dropped stitches... but it's one of my prized posessions. I flew out to San Francisco the day after she gave it to me, and it was my carry-on. Forget the toothpaste, this was my luggage. I love it.

We just buried her this past February.

I never learned to knit. I figured I'd never be a knitting pro like she was.

I can knit, I've made a couple of jumpers and little baby clothes etc. I prefer crochet though, my Mum taught me when I was wee and I find it really relaxing.

I made a crochet blanket for my Mum for Christmas two years ago in her favourite colours. It was the first time I've seen my Mum speachless and close to tears after opening a present I'd given to her. She keeps it on her bed all the time (apart from washing it of course).

Here's a picture .

Your blanket is lovely Linda Sorry for my ignorance but is your Oma your grandmother?
