I didn't really know what to call this thread but I rather like the idea of these daily posts. So, I reckoned that we could use this section to mouth off/discuss/deliberate on anything that has occurred in your day or that you just wanted to get off your chest.

I'll start the ball rolling - those of you who know me will guess that I'll choose the category RANT today!

I'm ranting today because I went to bed at 1 a.m. only to be woken up by my dog at precisely 2 a.m. All 10 stone of him was attempting to dig his way through the lounge wall in order to get outside (?) where there was a terrific thunder and lightning storm going on. He is always manic with storms/fireworks/shooting etc. It is now nearing 10 a.m. I have not been able to get back to bed and yes, you've guessed it, he is at my side, sound asleep, storing his head off! Who says its a dog's life!

Aawwhhh, poor little bugger was upset by the storm.
My Leo ain't too keen on fireworks and thunder either.

My rant for the day:

My next-door neighbours (who aren't terribly friendly to begin with),are planning on pulling down their current house and building a new one.Perhaps this is why they haven't bothered mowing their grass (or tidying up their yard of leaves, newspapers and goodness knows what other accumulating debris) for the past 2 months! It bugs me! I take great pride in my home, especially the maintenance... and then ya get these lazy, filthy buggers who don't seem to give a continental about it.

It's not on,I tell ya! LOL
Alright...
NEXT!!! LOL

A rather serious point here today folks. So many women (as well as some men) develop breast cancer. We all know of course that it was this devastating disease that we lost Dusty to. Also, of course, many of us will have had first hand experience within our own circle of family and friends. The reason I'm bringing this up today is that I have been reminded that October is breast awareness month in the UK. Many of our TV programmes are highlighting the issue of 'awareness' and I reckoned it wouldn't do any harm either to spread the word in cyberspace.

The following provides some interesting information re the Pink Ribbon campaign and of course further links

Absolutely.
I believe it may well be universal, that the month of October is associated with breast cancer awareness. Here in Oz,we have many fantastic initiatives, besides the well-known pink ribbon. For example,Arnotts release special "pink" Tim Tams and Osram sell special pink light globes... also our iconic Sydney Opera House is lit with a pink hue at night.

Let's pray that a cure can be found as soon as possible, for this debilitating disease... and our thoughts are with those brave women and men,and their family and friends, who battle against it on a day-to-day basis.

Thanks Janie...
I've been on tenterhooks for three weeks waiting on the results of a breast screening...
This morning I heard its okay...
The relief is tremendous.

My sympathy and thoughts go out to all those women who's news isn't so good today...

Carole R., it must be very hard to live in suspense and I´m SO happy that you´re okay! Words are so small beside big things and feelings like this.

Carole, i'm so pleased you're ok
It's such a horrible disease. My partner's mum is due to start chemotherapy treatment a week on Friday. Here's praying for a cure to this awful disease.

Carole, I can't believe you had to wait three weeks! That's just terrible! I remember waiting a week for an HIV test not so long ago, and that was bad enough! I'm so pleased to hear you've been given the all clear, what a relief!

Clare, I'm so sorry about your partners mother, and here's to a full recovery.

Thanks to all for your good wishes.

All the best to your Partners Mum as well, Clare.

I'm assuming that you were okay Andy?..

Carole, I'm so glad you're okay!
My Auntie died from this in her thirties, horrible thing to go through. My thoughts are with everyone affected by it.
Thanks for the link, Janie.

A close friend of mine...actually someone I once dated, has breast cancer. Her disease progressed somewhat like Dusty's..ok then back. Was given 6 mos. a few years back but is still hanging in. We hadn't been in touch much over the last few yrs until recently..getting together when we can.
I just heard somewhere recently that Richard Roundtree, "Shaft" had breast cancer years ago.

I´m sorry for all your losses, friends. Cancer has touched everyone´s life in one way or another, I guess. Everybody knows somebody who´s got it or some of us have had even more personal experience of it. Let´s fight the disease and stay strong together.

Well, yesterdays point was very thought-provoking and it produced some poignant reminders of some losses, fears but also of hope. Just in case in whizzing around the forum you missed it, Marg has put another related topic on this forum - a Dusty Calendar. Please have a look at that - I'm going to rename Marg 'Beautiful Soul' for that initiative!

alright, I want to know why some people (in my neighborhood, this means students) are oblivious to sloppy parking...meaning..(4) available spaces but only (3) can fit because "they" only think of themselves. Oh, how something so minor as parking can drive one crazy.
feeel better, thanks

I'm going to have words with that Mr Ward..what he failed to tell us is what happens to you when you can't discover much 'good' in another

'The one absoluelty unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog...He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world....When all other friends desert, he remains.'

- George G. Vest

Is this the same dog who has just been out in the garden rolled in cat pee and then knuzzled the shirts awaiting ironing? Back into the washing machine they go!
