Well, there seems to be so MUCH dissent over the other Gay Pop Icon list I thought it only appropriate that we do our own!
Go on folks, start nominating.........I may even be able to convince Carole to set up a poll to determine more accurately the relevant positions of our nominees

Yes, I agree with all the above, and I'm rackin' my Brain trying to think of some more!, and I guess this is the right post to ask a delicate question to Gay Ladies without wishing to sound patronising or cause any offence whatsoever, considering that many of these Female Icons are worshipped by Gay Men, my question is "Are there any Male Celebities, living or deceased, that are 'worshipped' by Gay Women?"
Hope nobody minds me asking the question!

Anne Murray (not a man, I know) used to have quite a following among gay women.

Edit: Earlier I typed Helen Reddy, but I was thinking of Anne Murray! |

That's a really interesting observation/question, Mark. I can't think of a gay male icon that is eternally adored by gay women. From what I've noticed, and who I've talked with (and this is just coming from me so take it for what it's worth) I think icons like Ellen DeGeneres or k.d. Lang or Melissa Ethridge are well-loved among lesbians because they're dignified and confident individuals. I mean, there's Elton or Freddie Mercury or George Michael, etc, but I guess it's more about the music than the icon. Why there is a difference, I can't answer that.
