He looks like a sasquatch!

Thanks for the Dionne Warwick link, Paul. I don't know why this song is often sped up, I rather like the tempo of Dionne's recording.

I've been scared of asking this, in case I SHOULD know the answer.

But, is this song from a show? cos, I think it sounds like a show song.

Or,is it just a Bacharach- David song that Dusty liked to sing?

It was obviously never recorded by her, as its not in the Paul Howes book.

Aint it funny that she recorded SO many songs and yet chose to sing this at the Ivor Novello Awards..

Gee, Carole, I'm starting to wonder why I even bothered to order the Paul Howes book.

The song is from the musical "Promises, Promises". Nice track list:

1. Overture
2. Half As Big As Life
3. Upstairs
4. You'll Think Of Someone
5. Our Little Secret
6. She Likes Basketball
7. Knowing When To leave
8. Wanting Things
9. Turkey Lurkey Time
10. A Fact Can Be a Beautiful Thing
11. Grapes of Roth
12. Whoever You Are
13. Where Can You Take a Girl?
14. Christmas Day
15. A Young Pretty Girl Like You
16. I'll Never Fall in Love Again
17. Promises, Promises

Wow!.... Thanks for that info' Linda..

So, were all the songs written By Bacarach and David?

I do know the song, Promises Promises.

Is the 'I'll never Fall In Love Again' song, The Bobby Gentry one?...

Its payback time for all the Bible info' Linda!...

Yes, they were all Bacharach/David songs. "I'll never fall in love again" is the Bobby Gentry song. (I always associate that one with Dionne or the Carpenters!)

Interesting sidenote, according to my Bacharach biography DVD, Burt swore never to write another musical ever again after "Promises, Promises". He couldn't stand how he had no artistic control over his work. Apparently it was QUITE an experience for everyone involved. I can understand his frustration, I mean, when your name is on the score and you don't even like what's been done with it? Burt is painfully perfectionistic.

Thankyou!

I'm really curious to know what 'Promises Promises' was all about, now..

I wonder if it ever came over here?
