I thought it about time we had another compare and contrast. This one features Baby Washington versus Dusty in the wonderful song

I prefer Dustys version also.
The arrangement is VERY similar, but the little 'crack' in Dusty's voice, nails it for me!..
This is only ONE of the brilliant songs on what, in my opinion, was Dusty's Greatest album. ..'Everythings' Comin' Up Dusty'

There's no cracking you lot is there? There must be somebody out there who's done a song better than Dusty - actually IMHO I've already named a couple, but I seem to be in the minority.

It's quite some time since I put a song on this thread so I thought, today I'll do it!!
The track I've selected is 'What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?' and the two singers are both favourites of mine (of course!), Barbra and Dusty.

Absolutely SUPERB. Sorry Dusty, you can't hold a candle to this woman for this particular song (I have to say I haven't found a song that Barbra and Dusty have covered where I do prefer Dusty's version! Does this mean my membership of the DSN is cancelled?! )

First time I've heard Diana sing Goin Back.
She makes a good job of it, as it suit her understated voice.
However the Dusty version will eternally be associated with her.
So 9/10 for Diana and 10/10 for Dusty.

The Carpenters version of 'Close to you,' is flawless..Sung very simply by Karen, with every word clear and audible.
Backing is also very understated, which suits the song.
Dustys version is all wrong somehow. She gets lost in the orchestration and seems to have problems with it from Square One..Liked the video pics though!...
Winner here, HAS to be THE CARPENTERS!... No contest.
