Does anyone know what happened to Alannah Myles?
In the eighties she had a monster world-wide smash with 'Black velvet' - an awesome rock record....then nothing

Black Velvet was a good song... No idea what happened to Alannah Myles though...

I saw Alannah at the Yorkville library about four years ago. I've since moved from Toronto so I can't keep an eye out for her!

Actually I do know that for the last two years Alannah has been the hostess of the paranormal documentary TV series Beyond. I've heard that after her success with Black Velvet Alannah got a terrible rep within the music industry for her bitchy attitude - mind you since she reportedly never got a cent from Atlantic Records for Black Velvet or anything else perhaps said attitude was understandable. Alannah made a bid to represent Sweden at Eurovision in '05 but her entry We Got It All (sung w/K2 & Kee Marcello) finished seventh out of a field of eight. Alannah is scheduled to release a new album this April 8 - entitled Black Velvet it features a new version of Aannah's career record plus ten new songs. Alannah maintains a performing career mostly in mid-size venues in Canada but she is scheduled to perform at the Ultimate Chart Show in Germany on April 11.

I saw her on stage about ten years ago but her show was terrible and I ended up leaving before it was over. It wasn't her singing that was the problem, it was her ungraceful stage presence. I think she was intoxicated, she was being very rude and self-absorbed, and didn't seem to care about the audience at all.
