Where's he from? What language is that in the text?
Hey, did anyone else used to think "just be close at hand" was "just because you can" when they first heard it? Or was that just me?

It's Dutch, and I believe the text at the side says that Opa Gerrit takes requests.
My favourite line lost-in-translation: "Believe me, I'll never lie you down". Aww!! I love this guy.

Gerrit is a real typical traditional Dutch name and opa means grandpa, so in English, it would be Grandpa George.

My Opa's name was Gerrit Willem, just like most other Opas. LOL

That means you got Dutch blood, Linda. My mother told me a few years ago I got American-Mexican blood because her biological father was an American with latino blood. He was a private during WWII and she was nurse. You get it?

LOL! Linda....Opa Gerrit takes request... Doesn't he do well? And Dutch...
And it is great song...but it became immortal when Dusty recorded it...and eventhough it was covered by a lot of other artist...
No-one even comes remotely close to Dusty.
