LOOK OUT...For brand new comedy series starting Friday night 9.30pm BBC.
Written by Jennifer Saunders, it has a great, tried and tested cast, including Joanna Lumley, Dawn French and Sue Johnstone ex 'Royle Family'....
Should be a GOODIE...give it a go!.....

I thought we weren't allowed to use the 'old lady' tag!

Reminded me of when I was a youngster and the family took a boat trip on the Devon Princess. My Nan lost her teeth AND her dinner over the side!

LOL!
Yes, Stupidly though, for some reason, I was 'programmed' to see a Victoria Wood Style 'thing'...So when Joanna Lumley showed up looking like Mrs Overall, it just reinforced my thoughts.
However, there were quite a few amusing scenes/comments and I'm thinking it could/should improve, once I get my head around it!!
Final Thought...It has potential.

I thought it was dire! It didn't seem to know what it was, cartoon or real. Might give it a second try though.

There was one visual joke which I liked. One of the characters was spinning balls of fire in the church, and she accidently lost control of one ball, and it ignited some weird knitted mobile which went up in smoke.
The rest of it was pretty weak, as I'm not very interested in seeing old ladies attend W.I. meetings. |

I wish they´ll show it in Finnish TV too and I think that they will! British TV series (both comedy and drama) are very popular here up north; we share the same dry sense of humour and not-too-mushy sense of reality.

Calenders girls was great --but then it did have Julie Walters and Helen Mirren in it! Wasn't very impressed with Fridays prog--may watch it again in case it grows on me!

I can't help thinking how much BETTER it would have been with Victoria Wood, Julie Walters and Celia Imrie in it! It may improve, but at the moment it doesn't seem to have that 'magic'

Thats exactly what I thought, Brian!...
Lets hope that if we can get our heads around the fact, it aint a Victoria Wood 'thing' we can warm to the characters...

IMHO, French and Saunders (as a pair) are now way beyond their sell by date. The last comedy sketch-type programme they did together was equally as dire!
