I saw Irma Ogden, (Sandra Gough) selling handbags on the local market many years ago...
Oh and Arthur Lowe was brilliant in everything!
In fact didn't Leonard Swindley 'Morph' into Captain Mainwaring of Dads Army...?..
Its marvellous the way Corrie has retained such quality over so many years..
One of my faves at the moment is Blanche...
She is hilarious, and has some great one-liners...

When Dusty & I did "Nothing Has Been Proved" on the BAFTAs many years ago Dusty's caravan dressing room was parked at the end of Coronation Street. I was thrilled & visited the set on my own throughout the day. Later when we were waiting to perform (I was singing the Neil Tennent "it's a scandal" part) Barbara Knox was waiting to present an award. Dusty knew how much I loved "Rita" & told me to go & say hello, but I was too nervous to speak to Barbara, yet there I was performing with Dusty!!

Oh, those pics go back a bit!! Dusty did like Corrie, but she preferred eastenders. Well, she was a Londoner after all! As for Xmas on The Street, I think we know that Tracy kills Charlie but 'm sure there will be a few twists. I'd like Norris to be caught wearing Rita's "smalls". I'll miss it all as I'll be in the sun, but I've set the HDD to record it.

Great times on the Street Simon. I once did the tour of the street, but never met anyone! One programme I always record when away is Corrie. There is another thread somewhere with some pics on. I remember Eddie Yates also --can't think of his real name-- who went on to be in the Royales and was Onslow in Keeping up Appearances. In fact Patricia Routledge--Hyacinth was in the early Corrie too!

How about this line-up from '68......

In the foreground it's the indomintable Ena Sharples, then from left to right, Emily Nugent, Jack Walker, Ken Barlow, Valerie Barlow, Annie Walker, Elsie Tanner, Minnie Caldwell, Len Fairclough, Jenny Sutton, Lucille Hewitt, Maggie Clegg, Les Clegg.

From this pic, Ken and Emily are the only ones remaining.
I can understand them keeping the 'Ken Barlow' character(William Roache) he's been quite a Casanova with loads of story lines.
For me, however, its a mystery how the Emily Nugent character(Eileen Derbyshire) has retained a place in the show, when better characters have been given the 'elbow'....
Thanks for the piccie, Mark.

As you can imagine it's going to be a Christmas day to remember (or perhaps forget !) in Gail's house, 'orrible David discovers something about what his Mother nearly did when the ghost of Ivy through her diary surfaces ! Plus Maureen arrives to upset Audrey and Bills 'cosiness'!!

Charlie Stubbs is appearing in Aladdin at The Lowry Theatre Salford...
So, I'm guessin he 'kicks the Corrie bucket' imminently.
