I've never heard Dusty's version of this song, and I was wondering, did Dusty record this as part of an album cut, or has it only been included on compilation CD's? I'm trying to get my hands on it, with not much luck, I can only find it on the "Simply Dusty" box set, which I'd have to sell my soul to be able to afford it on amazon.
Karen Carpenter and Anne Murray both have fantastic recordings of this song. It's not exactly an easy one to sing, but they seemed to pull it off beautifully.

Consulting the 'Bible' again, Linda!
The song made its debut on The Carpenters album..'Passage'
Anne Murray, as you say, then recorded it.
Paul considers it to be the 'strongest' if not the 'best' track on Dusty's 'Living Without Your Love' Album.
So I guess THAT answers your question!
Personally speaking, I adore that track. Carole R xx |

Fantastic, THANK YOU Carole! Excuse me while I run off to ebay or amazon or some other money drain.

Janie you are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing.
Wow, Dusty recorded this song in an entirely different key. It's a beautiful track... I love it.
What was Dusty's vocal range, anyhow? I think it's interesting to hear a song side by side with low altos like Anne Murray or Karen Carpenter. I don't know how low Anne could sing, but Karen could hit a D below middle C, but Dusty's range seems higher. Even in her speaking voice for that matter. Maybe that question is deserving of a topic on its own.

I love Karen's version, I thought Dusty's version might grow on me but it hasn't. Maybe with different production she could have done it a lot better. I'm gonna go hide now
