...We've all had 'em.
Those toe-curling times when you wish that the earth would crack and swallow you up.
You tell me yours then, I'll tell ya mine!...maybe.

| I recently told someone how nice her hair looked. Just as I was uttering the words, I realised that she had a wig on. I felt a complete plonker. |

Right...Heres my latest embarassing moment;
Last weekend we went to a wedding in Harpenden.
We had booked in at one of those Premier Lodge 'thingy's'..
Some friends had booked a room there too, and had asked to be in a room nearby to us.
They arrived much later than us, so we didn't hear from them until they rang my mobile the following morning.
"What number room are you in?" I asked, like an excited kid.
"Number 23" came the reply.
"Oh your'e right next door to us then," I said, "We're in number 22"
At this point and for reasons I still can't even explain to myself, I started knocking on the dividing wall.
"Can you hear that?" I'm shouting (Still on the phone)..
"No, Can't hear it!" came the reply...so stupidly I start knocking louder.
"You must be able to hear that"...I say down the phone.
"No" came the reply.
At this stage I thought I'd go out into the corridor and bang on their door.
AS I emerged into the corridor, I looked at the door of the room OPPOSITE...and it bore the number 23....
I had been banging on the wall of Room 24 !
God knows who was in there, but I hope they wanted to wake at 8am..cos my racket MUST have woken them up.
I was so scared that they would complain at reception, as this chain of hotels guarantees a good night sleep!...
Anyway it seems I got away with it...THIS time.

I do embarassing stuff all the time, I could put them into categories.... like, DUMB THINGS I'VE SAID, and I AM A CLUTZ, and DIG A DEEPER HOLE WHY DON'T YOU.
A little while ago I was driving into the city with a teenager and I was pulled over TWICE by the police for speeding. The really embarassing part is that the second time, I didn't even NOTICE that the officer was behind me with the flashing lights because I was too busy talking over the music. You should have heard the officer lecture me and tell me that I was a bad example for this young passenger, blah blah blah. The speech was more painful than the ticket.
I also got a speeding ticket once near my home and as I was pulled over, my husband drove by and waved.
I fell in an enormous puddle when I was walking along the waterfront in Toledo, only a few minutes after meeting someone who I'd known online. I was soaked. How's that for a charming first impression.
Our priest dropped by once, just as I was restarting Richard's computer. Unfortunately I had the settings on the computer to have a vulgar and blasphemous sound clip from a movie, and the volume was up rather high. Oops.
This is just a start. I thought of a bunch more but you get the idea.

It would have been even funnier if the policeman had been Linda's husband!

Carole's story has really given me the giggles.
And is it sad that I like the 'Knock Three Times' song? |
