In the week that Dusty is to be inducted in to the UK Music Hall of Fame an interview that Vicki Wickham gave to Chrissy Iley of the Daily Mail has been printed. It is unclear whether this is a 'new' interview or one given at the time of/around the publication of Dancing with Demons. But guess what? About half a dozen lines, if that, are devoted to the event this week...the rest is a rehash of the DWD themes. I don't know how much of the article you will be able to make out but I've attempted to reproduce it for you.
It is taken directly from the Weekend TV supplement from the Dail Mail Saturday 11 November.

Its incredible isn't it that Dusty is being inducted for her music and this old stuff is rehashed. We know she wasn't perfect, who is, but VW really needs to change the record. It reads like her whole life was one long mire of drugs and drink. As you say Janie its difficult to know how much of the interview was done around the time of DWD, and how much is new.
There is nothing positive in the whole of the article, and some inacuracies. No mention of the 60's really, just the time in USA in the mid 70's. She does not deserve this. What a contrast to the Alma Cogan show where everything was so positive and her family and friends spoke of Alma with such warmth. All Dusty gets is VW cause the media don't bother to seek out anyone else.

Well of course we get the usual obsession with Dusty's private life instead of an honest recount of her singing success.
Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but she is being inducted into the Hall Of Fame for her singing ability, talent and enduring popularity...
Lazy, sensationalist jounalism, typical of todays journalists, I'm afraid....
Thanks Janie Cxx |

I'm sure we've been here before Sara but "Yes, me too, and how"
Yet, I have to confess to going to the shop tonight at about 9:30 pm to try to get one (ask them to put it in a plain brown bag) but they are sold out...it's a very popular newspaper
So, was going to have to ask in work on Monday, but no need as its been posted... thanks.
I think sensationalist is another word for journalist, most of them anyway

The only thing I have to say about Vicki W is: What a SCHMUCK!!
It seems that the poorly researched craporama that is DWD has become "The Gospel according to Vicki W" with repeated tellings. Unfortunately, it is all regurgitated every time Dusty becomes newsworthy.

I was shocked by the negativity of this dreadful piece too....there's nothing positive at all, and VW says she's a 'friend', well, if someones idea of friendship is digging the dirt for the whole World to see about someone then they need to make an appointment with a psychiatrist!

Argh, why is VW so bitter! I wish sheŽd just shut up . No one thinks that Dusty was a perfect angel, but she wasnŽt evil devil either... just a damn good singer.

Why can journalists not see through this bloody woman by now? WHY does she feel the need to mock the bad things all the time instead of just acknowledging the wonderful singer that Dusty was and the pleasure she gave - and still gives - to so many people??
