On the 'This Day In History' thread 'Coulrophobia' is mentioned..It seems that this is a 'fear of clowns'...I know one or two people who are quite scared of clowns, but luckily you don't bump into them every day of the week, so apart from avoiding circuses, this phobia doen't really effect normal life..
Have any of you got a phobia ...that you want to admit to?..

Yeah, life! When I was younger I used to be scared of dogs But not so much now, only when they bark! And crowded places, sometimes. And craneflies! I don't know why cos it's ridiculous! I never knew I was scared of them until a year or two ago when two giant craneflies came in through the window and kept flying into my face, I stayed awake the whole night trying to get them to go back out the window What made it worse was, I didn't know what they were, I thought they were giant mosquitos!

I'm scared of marzipan..... It's totally irrational! Even the smell of it makes me shudder and run away! You should see me at Christmas, scraping the marzipan off the Christmas cake with a knife before I even think about eating it!
I used to be terrified of dogs too, Sara, since a bulldog knocked me over when I was on holiday at the age of about six... But I'm fine with friendly dogs! |

Anything slimey, such as worms, slugs, snakes (though I have caressed a python, and it wasn't slimey at all!)
I don't mind Spiders or creep-crawlies one little bit though!

When I was a little kid, I did not like clowns or balloons either. Cuz clowns had balloons and balloons popped! Now I just think clowns are lame.

I´m scared of spiders and those long-legged craneflies (cranefly was a new term to me and at first I thought that Sara was afraid of carnevals, which is very understandable), that Sara mentioned. They seem to get kicks out of flying towards my face and fluttering those long, thin legs of them!
That´s not all, I´m also afraid of non-moving water column... like if a stream of water comes out of a faucet and you can´t see it move, it doesn´t splash or anything - it almost makes me throw up. This started when I was a child and had a terrible fever... don´t ask me what caused the phobia!
I have weird friends too: one is afraid to stand next to a tall building, but she hasn´t got an acrophobia. Another one is scared of the sound that you can hear when you pipe ketchup or something... she can´t sit down and eat if there´s a bottle of ketchup on the table. And finally, one of my pals can´t stand a honeycombed pattern, that is - for example - left to the sink after a foam of washing liquid has dried out.
Love, Kat

Well, something needs sorting here, Marg. One minute you're telling me you want a Dustycat Janicus and the next you say you're afarid of cockroaches. Please note:
Specimen : Dustycat Janicus Group : Cockroach familiaris
I regret that I will be unable to assist you in your endeavours to acquire such a specimen unless you can prove to me that you have overcome this particular phobia.
