Yesterday on the radio they did a feature on a'Boutique' for Pets...
Oh yes, buying clothes for your pet dog, cat,or whatever, is the 'in thing' amongst the lets say, 'Rich' folk of my City.
It seems that dressing up your animal, in other words, 'humanising'it, has become very popular...
And, it seems that a 'dressed up animal' is now the required accessory, if you are to be considered a genuine celebrity...
I won't state my opinion on this just yet.
....But, I'd LOVE to hear your view on this latest trend...

Just another piece of info' yo throw into the pot.
They sell special bags to carry those little dogs around , ala Paris Hilton, Geri Halliwell, and suchlike.
These bags have special air vents in them, etc...ONLY costŁ150.....
Shouldn't think that Dusty had a 'special bag' all those years ago, when we saw a pic of her with a 'pooch' in her bag....

Hmmm... methinks these rich folks are running outta ideas on how to spend their money. I think it's all sooo pretentious and a load of doggie-doo!
Pets don't need expensive jewelled collars or fur coats - all they need is love.

Pets are - and have always been from the dawn of a man/womankind - friends to people. Would you make your friend wear ridiculous outfits in public, when they would rather wear their own clothes and be themselves? No, you wouldn´t. And chichuachua´s are dogs too, they have insticts of a wolf. Would you put a wolf in a bag and take it to a nightclub?
DSN´ers clearly know better

We certainly do, DSN have better taste --a poodle who lives near us goes for walkies in a ridiculous tartan coat!

No, but I regret a lot of people (women in particular!) do wear 'ridiculous outfits in public' in order to 'appeal'!

I also think this is a pile of 'dooggy doo' as Marg so rightly puts it.
I guess folk are entitled to spend their cash in the way the want, however, this seems ridiculously extravagant...
My MAIN reason for being AGAINST this is: IT is taking advantage of something that can't give an opinion..ie. The animal involved.
Many years ago, PRE Political Correctness, there was a commercial on the TV,for PG Tips tea...
The Advertisers thought it'd be a good idea to dress up some chimpanzees in human clothes and make it look like they were having a Chimps Tea Party...
I can tell you, that the advert didn't last too long before there was an outcry from animal lovers complaining that the Chimps were being exploited aa they couldn't speak up for themselves...and were being made to look foolish. . ..and yet NOW when everything is supposed to be very 'correct' some folk dress up their pets and it is deemed perfectly acceptable.
What a crazy, contradictory world we are living in!

Well said Carole and Kat.
I recall seeing a documentary on 'well-to-do' pet owners in NYC.They were taking their beloved pets (dogs mainly) to exclusive 'doggie gyms',pet parlours, etc. The main vibe I got was that they did all this for THEMSELVES.Do you really think a dog would be any happier at a gym with strangers, than by your side with a hug and pat? Ridiculous.
