I think we all feel 'refreshed? Of course the weekend didn't go without a hitch...the others were late arriving, so we all missed the talk on 100 things to do with a cucumber (Pen said she knew 97 of them anyway )...however the 'detox' was a success along with the lettuce 'rub'. It took a while to get used to the naked people walking in the camp, and even 'camp walking' in 2 cases. The chippy next door despite being Chinese did well out of our party and saved on vinegar in the process. We had sauna's, scrubs and scrapes, along with a demonstration of tanning with a carrot. Yoghourt was smeared in unexpected places, and our feet were treated to a massage by 'Yvonne' who used to work in the abbatior in Ross-On-Wye before she went to night school for beauty therapy. One of the most exciting things was the skipping session this afternoon where we skipped to the tunes of Rick Astley and Grace Jones (but not at the same time). This place is highly recommended - we might make a return trip at some stage....or when we get flabby again.

Truth be told.... After all that scraping scrubbing, waxing and de-toxing... I came out of The BumsRush a shadow of my former self.
I knew that I'd seen that General Dogsbody before... he was last seen as The 'Sadist' on Celebrity Fat Club...
Anyhow... must go.... I've decided to go jogging around the neighbourhood in my new pink lycra outfit....
If I get picked up by the 'Community SUPPORT Occifers' please come and bail me out...

Excuse me, could someone help me please? I'm looking to take a vacation myself, and by the sound of it your choices of destinations appear a little on the wild side- a bit like me really! I have read the recent reports on previous 'outings', and they are just what I need. Do you advertise in any particular brochures? Have your own website? Or even offer any special discounts for first time travellers? What with being 'tied up' at home, it's not easy to get out for a holiday these days!
Any information regarding Tootle Tours would be gratefully received!

He'll no doubt share the 'Summer Outings Timetable' with you then.

Well it looks as though we have another sucker...oh er I mean recruit who wants to join us. YOU ARE VERY WELCOME - it's open to all DSN members. TOOTLE TOURS was formed many moons ago, from a time when we found ourselves living on a mountain (remember Pen?)..there was another VIP there at the time...but she drifted away. We have been on many EXCITING outings - both home and abroad. Despite my articulate organising things don't always go as planned, but I'm not one to be defeated. This of course is due to the 'motley bunch' who cause me nothing but problems - NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. Any tour up....although dates are yet to be confirmed this summers timetable will include :- A visit to an old peoples home - to give us an insight on whats to come. A hot-air balloon ride over the Malvern Hills A European trip to Belgium to see how they make chocolates you can throw up if you eat more than four at one go. A possible 'murder-mystery' weekend including some pothole training. And, finally - our 'village open day' (which has proved to be a crowd pleaser for many years)..meeting old friends Walter, Flossie and Doris once again.

For anyone 'interested'...I can recommend the 'Village Open Day'...I've attended this particular debacle for at least the past four years... and it always proves to be... 'entertaining'. to say the least. |

Just to clarify - it's a 'double event'. The old peoples home is located at Denby Dale, so pothole training will be undertaken as a 'bonus'. The old folk love it when a rescue team goes out...the 'alarm bells' ring....can you imagine the effect this has on hearts that only beat a few times a week? It makes a change than senapods - they love it

Not really keen on chips myself, why? Were you thinking of sharing some with me? Oh, and thanks to Pen and Brian (who I will christen Uncle Toots! ) for the heads up on our next little adventure.

Now that's more like it! Self-confessed chocoholic I am (mind you, who isn't eh?) maybe a visit to C.A.- 'Chocoholics Annonymous' is in order do you think? Perhaps Uncle Toots could add this to our Summer Timetable? I'm sure the rest of you will find yourselves confessing to your chocolate temptations...
Oh and I love that bag Frans btw!
Until next time...

OK...The summer 'outings' start here (a bit like Ready,Steady,Go in reverse?) Next weekend (Friday - Sunday) we will be off to Denby Dale for a 'weekend adventure to end all weekend adventures'. We will be guests at 'AUTUMN LEAVES' old folks home and pothole centre. The inmates - oops , sorry residents are really looking forward to have young things around and are going all out to make our stay as memorable as possible. There will be demonstrations on cooking with tripe, knitting your own surgical stockings and willy warmers, pill-taking through the ages and filling in forms. On Saturday morning we are all 'going underground' with our guides Albert, Ethel and Victor who have all been potholing since the start of World War 2. In fact Victor never saw the light of day 'til 1948 - but he'll tell you about that. The 'Denby mountain rescue team' will be on hand just in case. A boiler suit and pretty strong boots are recommended. When we get back on Saturday afternoon we will take tea in the communial lounge where we can observe the usefullness of tissues and denture fixative powder. The highlight of the weekend will be on Saturday night when the weekly dance takes place. This weekends 'theme' will be war-time tunes with fancy dress in the nissun hut at the back. Sunday, we get a visit from the Reverend Pillock who will conduct a service and do a talk on burial plots and legacy's to the church. Roast beef with Yorkshire puddings will be on the menu for lunch , followed by jelly and fruit that can be easily digested. The stay will end with a small play put on for us by the residents called 'Up the duff in '44 - GI blues'. Cicely Bradley in the lead roll with full support. Tickets now available...please enclose SAE.

Now that's what you call a weekend! Sending my money and SAE to you right now Uncle Toots Is the 'theme' for fancy dress war-time too? If not, I'm thinking of going as 'Nan Taylor'- I'm sure I would fit right in, and maybe show some of those 'golden oldies' a few moves on that dance floor! - e.g. wheel-chair 'wheelies', how to break-dance with a zimmer.
