If you are driving to Blaneau Ffestiniog please avoid the road from Llandudno as it's going to flood on Friday
Unfortunately Toots, I read your helpful advice too late... and took that VERY road....
I got caught in a tidal wave, was swept right back to Llandudno Pier...was blown right to the end of said pier, and fetched up in the Irish Sea....
I am now floating towards Dublin, and hope to have a drink in Temple Bar before Midnight....
"Turned out nice again 'ant it?'....

'Sat nav', 'AA roadmaps', RAC routing guides'...these mean nothing it seems. We have a Reliant driving clot in Cornwall and a woman who thinks she's a buoy in the HSS shipping lane 40 odd miles west of Holyhead. Next trip - we'll go by bus! I won't organise anything straight away as it will most probably take a week for them to get back. Any mountain road up, I had a GOOD time in the end. I made several sheepish friends and sampled Mrs Jones's dumplings. I have 3 black plastic bags full of wool which I'm going to have made into a draught excluder for my shed. Mazie from our local Women's Institute has offered to knit it for me, to repay the favour I gave her in 1961

I presume they are all home now? I've been thinking.......yes I have! Our next trip should be educational, but bearing in mind we are in the middle of winter outdoor pursuits may not go down too well....so ...how about a visit to the British Museum?...or perhaps a night 'on the town' somewhere? (but not Burton-On-Trent)

Too many relics in the Brit museum and they might keep us. I fancy a night on the town, then a night in a city and then a village--lets make it a long weekend of nights for educational purposes of course.

I was thinking the same only this morning! I have been busy searching brochures and 'the net' to find us something stimulating and akin to our needs, and guess what I've found? There is a trip to a bus museum, next Saturday 17th. This, on the surface might not seem TOO interesting, but on display will be the double-d from Cliff's 'Summer Holiday' film, the original bus where Olive met Arthur (including a lifesize Blakey), but most of all, and truly exciting - THE BUS PEN LEFT HER CHILD ON - ALL THOSE YEARS AGO! Now, some of us will remember that sad tale, and may like to explore the upper deck in an effort to understand the story and perhaps the shady reason it happened in the first place? As it's a government run museum, entrance will be free, although gifts and mimentos will be on sale at the usual gift shop prices
Anyone up for it?

Up for anything me--at my time of life I jump at any little trip.
It would seem that Pen has gone and lost Hen again---ah well. We shall certainly explore the double decker.
We might find the odd Shadow too.

The Bus Museum it is, Toots!..
Cliffs Summer Holiday Bus sounds..... excruciating, sorry exciting...
...and THAT bus!!.. who knows Hen may well be sitting on the back seat waiting for us!
It'll be like 'This Is Your Life'...we'll only need Michael Aspirin to appear, with his big red book. Cxx |

Here we all are at the Bus museum. They allowed us to drive to the airport in case we fancy a Summer holiday. Olive and Arfur are going to join us for lunch on the top deck. No sign of Hen so she is well and truly lost yet again.
Toots insisted on being the Conductor, he just like shouting "hold tight, ticket please"
Pen drove us here--abit too fast around the bends for my liking. I'm used to 3 wheels not 2.

A very enjoyable afternoon it's turned out to be, despite Pen arriving with a bag of chips and demanding to be called 'The clippie from the chippy'. We let her have her way in the end. What was extremely interesting was the small plaque on the top deck of the number 54 which said 'SMALL FEMALE CHILD LEFT HERE 9.37PM NOVEMBER 23RD 1964 - MOTHER DONE A BUNK'. It goes on to say the child went on to become fairly famous on a website in 2005 due to her love of SKWERLS - I felt tears coming to my eyes Pen just stuffed her face with chips. Any route up, we had a quick spin in the Summer Holiday bus and sang a few Cliff tunes and it was all over. At least it was free

**STOP PRESS*** URGENT About a year ago in another world we all did a trip to Frinton-on-sea. Well - we have been offered a special deal for next week at a giveaway price by Mrs Shufflebolt at "DUNROAMIN"...just £29.99 a week all in. Includes full English breakfast and evening meal. Next week is Frinton's 'Miss Frinton pagent'...a slightly different beauty competition for the over 40's. You will automatically qualify if you've won a competion before in the sixties or seventies, or if you can supply a full book of Greenshield stamps. Can we have some enthusiasm??

Mrs ShuffleBOLT? what happened to her BOTTOM?...
Well I think I qualify ,as I won a Peoples Friend Crossword Puzzle Competition at the tender age of 18yrs.
Yes, while all my friends were 'Goin to a Go Go' I was trying to seperate my Cryptic from my 'One Down, Three up'....
It was fun in a way, but in another way I lost my teenage years to squinting over a hot crossword....
I admit to being slightly wary of SUCH a cheap offer, and I fear that Mrs S's idea of a square meal could be a cream cracker and Oxo cube...but what the hey!.. Spring is coming, and Easter eggs are on their way...Except the Cadburys ones which have been re-called that is...
Yes, I'm game for it Toots!
PEN.....Just going out for some Oil of Ulay and Polyfilla, as we speak...

I've got 12 books of slightly dog eared Greenshield stamps--so that puts me in the Miss Frinton pageant.
I don't need polyfilla as I'm younger than Pen

The reason the 'rates' are so cheap is I've told Mrs Shufflebolt we are all OLD. Some of you (but not many) will need to enhance somewhat, so please put your hair in a bun, wear heavy duty stockings and learn the words to 'Gotta have money in the bank Frank'. We then can pass as Frankie Vaughan and The Kaye Sisters on a break. She won't know some of them are already dead, as she's been in the kitchen since 1954 when Mr Shufflebolt did a ....bolt Frinton awaits

OK....The next trip is on the cards. We need at least SIX persons to take part as I've ordered a mini bus, to take us for a weekend on the south coast (I'm not sure which destination to choose - Dover or Eastbourne) You see Dover is for the continent, and Eastbourne is for the incontinent Both destinations will feature Vera Lynn heavily - Dover as she was THEN, Eastbourne as she is NOW. If you choose Dover you will be able to wear those 2nd world war clothes you have in the back of your wardrobe, but if you choose Eastbourne who cares what you wear. Until I get an idea on the preference I will hold steady.

Well as I have a gas mask, and a land girl's pair of dungarees in the back of my wardrobe..... I vote for Dover.
We could Sing as we go along the White Cliffs and with Vera Lynn look for those Blue birds AND who knows we may even fit in a little trip over the water to France
