Thanks.

Um, it was a really strange feeling. I had seen the house in several pictures, and the TV movie "The Karen Carpenter Story" was filmed there, so it was familiar and thrilling at the same time. Incidentally, I planned the visit to coincide with the anniversary of her death, Feb 4th, first thing in the morning. It was a pilgrimage of sorts. Then we hit the walk of fame. Here's my favourite picture of the entire trip, lol.

Speaking of vacations, I've only ever been to Europe once, in 1997. I must get back. I would love to see England, Italy and France to be specific. Anyone want to babysit two adorable and fiesty kids?

Those are beautiful pics, Rob.

Better than any postcard.

Is the top one, Tenby?...

...and the sea looks like a mill pond on the second one.

Thankyou for sharing.

Yes Carole, you're right, it is Tenby. The second is a beach called Broadhaven and was taken early evening. There are (at least) two Broadhaven's in West Wales. The best known is probably the one between Haverfordwest and St David's but this one is just west of where i was staying, at Freshwater (East).

I saw a man and child writing this on Tenby's other beach.

Kinda cute!

It's nice to see the cemetary so beautifully kept. I have a similar photo from Arlington National Cemetary just outside the American capitol.

Thank you for sharing.

The Memorial on Omaha beach which was done for the 2004 Anniversary.
It represents peace and freedom--the pieces are symbols of Dove wings.

The Rose garden of Peace at Caen.
I have never seen so many roses, they were really beautiful. It had been built on a old rubbish site and was down in a dip so you looked down on it all at the entrance and then walked around down to the bottom.

Thanks for those fantastic pics Trek.

It is so hard to take in, that each one of those Markers stands for someone's beloved son or daughter.

At those 2 cemetries alone there are a total of around 15,000 graves, so many 18/19/20 years old.

Just a tiny bit of the Bayeux Tapestry which is over 70 metres long.
The story begins in 1064.
At this time, Edward the Confessor, the King of England, feeling that his death was imminent and having no children, requested his brother in law Harold to go to Normandy and inform William who was the Duke of this province, that he, William, had been named by Edward as his successor to the throne of England.....the tapestry traces the history of the conquest of England by William the Conqueror.

It is in very good condition and very colourful. Naturally dyed wool was used on linen.
