Amy Winehouse singing the Classic 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?'
Nothing at all like Dusty's cover, which was sung at a much quicker pace.
And the original by the fantastic Shirelles.
So, What d'ya think?...

I don't know what it is, but there's something about her voice, or way of singing, that I don't like, and she's ruined that song She sounds like one of the Sugarbabes!

I don't think personally that she's ruined it and it is interesting to hear it sung slowly. However the song seems to benefit from being sung in a more uptempo way.
When Neil Sedaka did the original Breakin up is hard to do it was up tempo, he then slowed it down--but the slow version never seemed to be as good as the upbeat version. Its the same with Will you still love me tomorrow--its what we expect it to sound like I guess.
Amy does have a good voice and I would like to hear her sing it uptempo as well.

I prefer Amy's version. I started out with Carole's slow version on Tapestry and love Amy's voice, so it's a natural for me. Roberta Flack does it slow, too. As does Rod Stewart. Gosh, how many people have covered this song? (Off to Wikipedia)
It's a little jarring for me to hear it fast- the lyrics themselves are not upbeat.

Went to Wikipedia, and of course the song's been recorded scads of times.
Some versions that I have my CD collection that I didn't mention in the above post are Cher's (on the CD set I just got recently) and Bryan Ferry's. It goes without saying that I have Dusty's too.
The article says that Carole King thinks the "definitive version" is by The Bee Gees. I've never even heard their version!
Not sure if I've heard Linda Ronstadt's, but I'm sure I'd like it.

Me neither, Astro.
Dusty sang it 'upbeat' so, what do we think of that?

I can't say I've heard the Bee Gees version either. Several artists have recorded the song - The Four Seasons had a great version, but there really are only TWO that cut it...Dusty's version is superb, but The Shirelles just edges ahead (well - there were FOUR of them!)...a classic recording which never dates and will be played for years to come

So do you agree Amy's version sounds like a foghorn?

I'd have to go with the Shirelles, but I was thrilled with Dusty's track, too. Carole King put out a great recording. I think those are my three favourites.

Fantastic!...Thanks for the links, Rob.
Brian Ferry?... Never been sure whether I like his mean and moody style or not.
Shirley Alston Reeves..an original Shirelle.
Is she related to 'our' Martha, I wonder?)
Anyway ALL these versions just go to show that, there aint no way that you can keep a classic song down!

Linda puts her early country rock spin on it. Of course, you'd like it Astro!

Cliffs version: Okay, but light, fluffy and saccharin sweet.
Best part is when the audience shout YES! as he asks the question..
