The dvd of the film HELP has just been released
Its re-mastered , re-mixed and re-vived.
Rubbish storyline but the music more than makes up for that.
John Lennon was never happy with the film he said that he felt like an 'extra' in his own film.
Take a look here:http://www.thebeatles.com/

Cool! I've never seen any of the films. My mum loved 'Help' though and said she always wanted to see it again, so I got her it on video for Christmas one year

The film was on TV the other day as well, wasn't it? . Thats another one I can remember going to the cinema to see when it first came out (age phobia creeping in again! ). Leastways I can't claim to have seen Mrs Miniver when it first hit the screen .

Christmas Day, maybe 1972? what's on TV (in UK)? 'HELP!' Yay!! Small Beatles fan, already gladdened by the presents, been to church with the family, now settling down, or rather, applying the glue between me and the telly, watching with complete attention. Ringo's ruby RED ring, Eleanor Bron, Victor Spinetti, and they keep going on about Einstein or Eisenstein...
And Christmas Day, the following few years, revealed 'A Hard Day's Night' (George: '...okay, I'll give it a bash..') - how much fun was that movie - 'Yellow Submarine', and finally 'Let It Be'. But HELP was first... I once owned an old MONO copy of the LP. Thanks Beatles.
Went to see 'Y Submarine' in the cinema with my sister: (John)'...I've got a hole in my pocket'.. - the same man who told Dusty she had spots, on RSG!

Watch A Hard Day's Night, Sara - it's genuinely funny
As everyone else has said, Help is rubbish, apart from the music. |

I remember watching a Hard Days Night at our local cinema when it first came out. I sat through the film twice in one day - they never bothered to chuck you out between sessions!! Imagine them doing that these days .
On a similar note but one I'm not too sure why I'm bothering to share with you. I recall going to see 'A Star Is Born' (BARBRA S!!!!!) at the local cinema in Exmouth - my husband and I were the ONLY ones in the entire place. It was a bit embarrassing when we got personal service from the usherette (nice old fashioned term there) during the interval. Anybody want an ice-ceam?

Ohhh, I don't think Help! is rubbish. I was seven when it came out. I loved it then and I still enjoy watching it. It's very silly, but so is A Hard Day's Night.
Janie, don't get upset, but I thought Barbra's version of A Star is Born was appalling. I love her, but she is not a rock and roll singer, so it was just all wrong. Hated the curly hairdo, too. "Evergreen" is a fantastic song, though, and the best thing to come out of the whole thing.

Im with Janie on this one David! I love Babs whether she's doing ballads, pop or rock.
I watched Help on telly the other night and don't remember it being so toe curling embarrassing when I saw it at the flicks. As I watched it on the box I kept thinking how similar it was to the Monkees tv series (do you think the director got his ideas from the Beatles film?)

I saw an episode of The Monkees on TVLand a few months ago. "Toe curling embarrassing" puts it perfectly. Can't believe how BAD it really was. Was that crap supposed to be funny? Guess we bought into it as kids, huh?
From the recent books I've read on The Beatles, they were pretty much stoned full time while filming "Help!".

I read somewhere that Barbra was very jealous of the Beatles stealing her thunder in the 60s.
She's Barbra and she's wonderful, but she ain't rock and roll. Neither is Dusty, of course. It's apples and oranges.
