Thanks to Bev and Alex who got the ball rolling here...

Bev sent an e-mail to the CSE's PR and Media section when we discovered this picture of Dusty, where she appears to be wearing some kind of CSE uniform:

After a while she received this reply:

"I have discovered three photographs in an article on CSE which show Dusty, Harry Secombe, Alfred Marks and Stanley Baker by the Brandenburg Gate and Harry and Dusty on stage..."

And then again - after some waiting we finally were able to have a look at these rare pictures :

At the risk of 'sounding' completely stupid.

Assuming that the party is coming down the 'plane steps..

How come The Brandenburg Gate is so close?

That is not a stupid question, Carole! I asked myself the same question, too!
But after looking at that "step picture" and reading the german words on the sign I would say that this was no plane.
I would suggest that this was maybe a watchtower or a checkpoint of the border area of the western part of Berlin.
In the background you can see the Berlin Wall. There is also a stripped barrier in the front of the picture.

Yes, you must be right...

Those steps are wooden.

Was it Checkpoint Charlie?

A'm just interested to know how you know what year it was Matt.

It does look very beehive / Springfields, but her (now famous) photos in the CSE shirt are dated August 1964. Did she go back more than once??

lol well the very first photo is from a different year because the hair is very different and the clothes are - also I've seen the photo of her with Harry Secombe before and the date was 1963 (i think)

I may be wrong tho!!

Here's what Simon had to say about the pictures:

"This trip was clearly at the time of The Springfields breakup. Dusty is wearing one of her Springfields costumes. It's likely she had not yet recorded Wishin' & Hopin' in English let alone in German. My guess is she was keeping a booking made for the Springfields. Harry Secombe was also on Philips. She made many trips to Germany in the 60s, until her last in the 80's to mime to Reputation on a TV show."

Thanks for this information Tere and Simon.

Interesting that she kept The Springfields date.

Must've been quite daunting.

I didn't know that Harry Secombe recorded for Philips.

In fact, I only know ONE record he ever made.

Carole Harry Secome made many records, he did a great version of Nessun Dorma and also recorded Petula's This Is My Song, If I Ruled The World etc:
