Although September 8th 1966's show was the best of three, according to the democratic process , September 1st's contains an unusual moment. During the fabulous song, 'Bring Him Back' , which I would love to have seen her sing live, and to have heard a studio version of, two rather thin male dancers come on to the stage . Its the awkward 'how do we fill the instrumental bit' moment. Doing a half-squat turkey trot, they come over to Dusty who then, between them, compromises her dignity with a little 'routine' . Poor lads. They must've been cool then, but look a bit daft now. The under-rehearsed choreography spoils it a wee bit...but Dusty makes up for everything with a full-throttle vocal that would have statues dancin in the squares.
Question: from your knowledge of unshown episodes, and other tv shows, did Dusty do 'dancing' routines very often? (Apart from the 'Anything You Can Do' clip).

I think she does very well with the 'Bring Him Back' routine Alex.
I don't think Dusty was comfortable with dancing, due to her poor eyesight.
On some of those old clips, I'm scared she's gonna trip over the mic wire.

The most ridiculous dance routine I have EVER seen must be the boys doing their zombie dance with Dusty singing 'For Once in My Life' on the Liberace Show. That was just bizarre.

She does a lil hoppity skip in a sketch with Englebert Humperdink and she sorta moves side to side on the Andy Williams Show.

That zombie dance thing for 'For Once In My Life' was so strange! I loved hearing her sing that song though.. Tony Bennett did a great version

Alex you can hear a studio version of Bring Him Back on Dusty's album Where Am I Going, it's the opening track. |

I did see Dusty at the Talk of the Town doing her Shirley Temple routine and she was really good. Irving Davies, who choreographed the routine, said she was a natural.

Jonathan I am so envious that you saw Dusty then. When we booked for her next season there and it was cancelled after her opening night due to her having throat problems. |

Stop teasing!! I'm so jealous
I like the dance routine in "Bring Him Back", it's not exactly 'slick' but I think it's good. I like the dance routine for "For Once In My Life" too...I think the male dancers' choreography is based on stylised movements of bull-fighters, maybe I'm wrong, but the costumes of the dancers also suggested a Spanish influence too.
My favourite dance though is during the musical break in "Everybody Needs Somebody To Love" on the first show of the 1967 series.

Talking of Bring Him Back on Where Am I Going---what a good album that is. So under rated. I play it alot and it never fails to lighten my mood.

What about Dusty's dancing style on "Nowhere To Run" from the last show of the 2nd series. It's kinda like a shuffle, with a bit of a shimmy and a shake... tho Dusty's knees stay locked together throughout the entire performance!

I Love Dusty's dance on "Nowhere To Run"!!
"Where Am I Going" is my favourite of Dusty's U.K.-recorded LP's...loads of great songs on it, and I like the cover too...which no-one else seems to care for.
