What station is smooth radio? Is it on FM or AM?
What's the difference between AM and MW?

Not exactly a 'song' sighting, but Dusty was mentioned on the Steve Wright In The Afternoon BBC Radio 2 show yesterday. Steve was interviewing Dave Clark (of Dave Clark 5 fame of course . The Dave Clark 5 have a greatest hits album or the like coming out. They were talking about 'Top of the Pops' and 'Ready Steady Go' (Dave owns the rights to RSG). Dusty got the mention in relation to an appearance on the very first TOTP in 1964 (I think it was then anyway....gloss paint fumes may well have fuddled my mind .

TWICE Dusty has been played this morning on Radio 2 - and it's only 8.30am!
Firstly at 5.15 the dj played 'What's it gonna be', then just now Terry Wogan played 'Island of dreams'. "Ah - The Springfields, from a long time ago"

SOTS this morning - IOWTBWY but the 'out-take' version.
This was preceeded by The Honeybees rather nice version of 'Some of your lovin'
I didn't know the Honeybees were really The Cookies under another name, and the lead singer was Shirley Alston*
*Brian Matthews said she was the lead singer of The Crystals!..it should have been The Shirelles surely?

It's Barbara Alston singing lead on Some of Your Lovin': she was indeed a member of the Crystals singing lead on their hits There's No Other Like My Baby & Uptown not to mention the notorious He Hit Me & It Felt Like a Kiss - oops I just mentioned it!

Well I shirley didn't mean to imply the error was yours Brian!

BTW for some time Shirley of the Shirelles has been billed as Shirley Alston Reeves: a few years ago Shirley's picture turned up on an ad for a Martha Reeves gig!
