Last week I bought some cd sets of hits from 1957, there's some great stuff there including versions of the same song by more than one artist but they have programmed them in between other songs so as you don't have the same song three times in a row by the different artists.

They don't seem to do that these days have more than one person in the charts at the same time with the same song,it also happened in the 60's when Cilla Black & the Righteous Brothers both had hits with You've Lost That Loving Feeling.

The quality of the discs is excellent with a very informative booklet inside.

It's great to think that artists like Jackie Wilson with Reet Petite is still a favourite today, his record of (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher & Higher is an alll-time classic and it's on Dusty's BBC cd.

There is a 'new' series called 'BRITISH HIT PARADE (Britains greatest hits) - 4 cd sets. I have 1956 and 1957 so far...it certainly takes you back!
(Of course it won't if your less than 47 years old)

THE ORIGINAL 'REVIVED 45'..playing at 78!!!

This is the series I'm talking about Brian, but although it's the British hit parade there are plenty American artists included, some I've never heard of but they are really good.

2 people in the charts with the same hit happened alot in the 50's and 60's.
It is unheard of today.

This series sounds sounds good,--I wish I was younger than 47--but sadly No

The Righteous Brothers is the definitive version surely?

There's no comparison in my view, there's just no "soul" here for me

What do you think?

Well I bought Cilla's version back then, I think there is a lot of soul in her version. Infact I can still remember seeing Cilla onstage for the first time in the 60's she just knocked me out.

Dusty was always my favourite but seeing Cilla was fantastic, at that time her voice was SO powerful.
