Today, as we reach the unbelievable ninth Anniversary Of Dusty's death.(See General Forum)I'm wondering who you think out of the current crop of female singers, Dusty would most admire.

Obviously none of us knows, I guess its just a guess.

...And, I'm limiting you to just ONE name.

To be honest I'm not too familiar with the 'current crop' of Female singers!(am I missing much?!!) though I'm sure Dusty would admire, as I do, Katherine Jenkins.

I like to think that Dusty would have been wowed by the way Sheryl Crow has grown professionally and personally in the last decade.

Yes... I used to like The Corrs, saw them live once and they were brilliant.

Didn't know that Andrea had gone solo.

Regarding Dusty, I'm thinkin she would have admired Amy's 'Black sound'

So, I say, Amy Winehouse.

How about the other musical "ingfield": Natasha? Ms Bedingfield is my fave current vocaliste & I think the elan she displays in her recorded & live performances would have appealed greatly to Dusty.

offcause AMY WINEHOUSE
I first see her in jan.07 and by good how she looks like a young Dusty with the hair and makeup ( the panda look) then i listen to the rehab recording and how she was singing !!! i think it would be the way dusty will sing it if.......
i think her voice is fab and her feeling for the songs is the same as dusty's way of frasing and and feeling for the words in the songs
and it looks like she (amy winehouse) have the same meaning with life
drugs and party's like dusty. I hope that she grow up and start take her talent serious by shure she got a briliant voice and a feeling for soul/beat.

Well, so far we have:

Three votes for Amy
One for Duffy
One For Regina Spektor
One For Andrea Corr
One For Sheryl Crowe
One for Katharine Jenkins.

So my calculations say that most of us think that Dusty would've admired Amy Winehouse...

Amy, yes!

And I think she would like Shelby Lynne's album of her songs.

I've never understood the "greatness" of Amy Whineyhouse, her voice is really harsh and nasty and she sounds like a foghorn. Not even gonna go there about her looks cos that wouldn't be fair, but just ewww.

Hey no one has mentioned KATY.

Although not a star as such yet(Katy you will once you hit LV)
i think dusty would really approve of her.

Katy i might just be your number one fan.

Since winning TOAO she has brought Dusty's music back into the public eye again, and hopefully she will make a CD of her favourite Dusty songs.

How come my vote for Natasha Bedingfield doesn't count? Actually Dusty's Little by Little just played in this cafe & - while I know it's not absolute criteria for "Who Dusty would choose" - I can totally imagine Natasha singing it whereas I can't imagine Amy Winehouse.

I understand Natasha's recent North American hit Love Like This won't have its UK release til this spring: if my fellow-Brits would care for a sneak peak here's a link to the video:

Of course your vote for 'Tash' counts, Richard, just an oversight on my behalf.

Heres the latest countdown:

Four votes for Amy
One for Duffy
One For Regina Spektor
One For Andrea Corr
One For Sheryl Crowe
One for Katharine Jenkins.
One for Natasha Bedingfield
One for Katy Setterfield.

OMG... I do hope I missed no-one out!...Amy is still way ahead in the 'Dusty's Choice' League.

I don't know anything about Natasha Bedingfield, Richard, 'cept that she's Daniel Bedingfield's sister(Isn't she?)..

I do like that song, though.

Many thanks for the link.
