I seem to remember seeing Dusty on top of the pops I think as a backing singer with another band it was aired just before she died and was a big hit. Has any one the video of this or have they any better recolections than mine.
Thanks

Are you thinkig about The Pet Shop Boys?
If so Dusty was not backing them she was singing with them as their guest on "What Have I Done To Deserve This", they also did their bit on "Nothing Has Been Proved" both of which werw big hits. |

I think, but not 100% sure that 'Roll away' was Dusty's last actual 'Video', filmed in her beloved Ireland

Haven't you seen this video Mark?
I've seen the video but the quality wasn't that great, Dusty mimes to the song and there are two children and a white horse and an old style wooden caravan featured. |

I might have a better quality clip, I tried uploading it to Yousendit, but it halted at 18%. I'll try again tomorrow!

I can't thank you enough for this Frans. ..and I can't think of enough words to describe that video.
So, I'll just say its very beautiful, but like Linda, I also found it made me sad.
I'd like to know what 'we' all make of the video.
Its very symbolic.
What d'ya think?

This video couldn't have been filmed anywhere else but Ireland. Perfect touch for Dusty, and fitting as her 'exit' video.

i have never seen this video before- simply stunning
i have read about the making of it tho- i believe it rained a lot and they had to keep breaking between the showers-(when Dusty is sat near the rocks) hence i guess the fantastic light, the rain clears the air and makes the light clearer- each time the rain came Dusty had to have her hair redone as it was quite a walk from a type of mobile camper van that dusty and the crew used they were fast running out of time and light and things got a bit stressed but Dusty perservered with it and the camera crew got the takes they wanted
also did i read somewhere that the green door has some sort of significance?
dusty stayed at a small b+b whilst filming this video and spent a lot of time with the animals around the place including feeding the ponies carrots
i wish i could find the web page where i read about this- any one know where it is??

I've got the video on DVD and have watched it many times and although I love the song and of course watching Dusty, like others, it also fills me with a sense of sadness.
The green door was in the back yard of Cregg Castle, Corrandulla (where Dusty stayed) in County Galway and apparently was usually surrounded by all the dustbins etc... how lovely!!

Thanks so much Frans for posting the Roll Away video--I have a very poor version on a DVD--no where near as clear as this.
It is very symbolic, the children and the horse perhaps represent innocence and purity.
It must have given her great joy to do this in Ireland. The photos are lovely too that have been recorded here.

i have watched the video loads now and keep seeing different 'symbolic' signs ... Dusty looked very happy making this video with a lot of jokey mischeviuos smiles.....what was she up to ?
the green door was closed, the sun was setting, the graveyard and the Poulnabrone Dolmen (the megalithic rocks) all may signify 'an ending'
the decaying buildings the church, the mining shed, and the crumbly old house may signify.... 'age and time'
the white horse and the kids... the kids may signify innocence and the horse may mean life as has been said but you see later that the kids catch the horse and lead him to the beach and finally leading him along the road as if taking control of his life and 'ending his freedom'
the shots of the rushing clouds and the sea. well we all know that the 'time and tide wait for no man'
as Dusty is silhouetted in the sunset is the saddest part of the video for me anyway
so i think that the video may represent freedom of life and its ending thru time, as if Dusty knew something, very thought provoking from a poignant video
do we know who directed the video?
whooa just gonna click post new reply and Dusty is on the radio 'little by little'-- spooky |
